Tywin Lannister, the lord of Casterly Rock, Shield of Lannisport, Warden of the West, only stared at the letter in his hand, wondering what could he do with it. He wasn't sure if it was a joke or a well-manufactured lie. It was out of the ordinary to receive a letter with such elegance and an incredibly written proposal. Tywin sat on his desk, at the Hand tower in the Red Keep, where all his work to maintain the Seven Kingdoms unfold.
He would normally have the misfortune to endure many letters from nobles who wished in one way or another to advance their position at court or would like to try to coerce the crown into doing their liking. It was a useless endeavor, of course. Tywin would let no one step on the power of the crown. No matter what. But it was slowly getting harder to do.
Tywin's old friend, Aerys Targaryen, the king, was slowly becoming more different, more unstable. Tywin could see it, every day sweeping away, and he wasn't sure of what to think. Aerys listened for now, and he seemed to want to be the greatest king in history. Yet the reality would sink in, and would only lead to a harsh and unspeakable reaction from him. The king would get irritated, resentful, and petty with everyone, and it was just starting.
"He's going to get worse."
Tywin whispered while wondering where did it go all wrong. Perhaps it was the Tragedy at Summerhall that sparked the ignite in his mind. The immeasurable pressure to not let the Targaryen name die with him, and to be a great king. Tywin couldn't be sure. Yet, there was one thing he was certain of. If Aerys loses his mind, then the Seven Kingdoms would have a few years of horrors to come. But he was hopeful that nothing could go wrong. Not for him, at least.
Tywin Lannister was the lord of Casterly rock after all. Head of the richest and most powerful family in Westeros, and youngest Hand of the King in history. He would achieve greatness and create a dynasty like never seen before. A Lannister dynasty. It was only a matter of him moving carefully and linking his dreams to reality. But he would achieve just that. Nothing would stop him from that.
Tywin smiled as he could already see it. Yet his mind came down to earth as he once again stared at the letter.
"The North is moving, interesting."
Tywin muttered, since in the last few years. He has seen a rather surprisingly swift in focus for the Northerner. They were becoming more independent and creative in the way they make business with the rest, especially the Free Cities, and if what he heard was true. The North has discovered a large quantity of iron and silver in their mountains. Tywin wasn't a man who believed in rumors, but he also knew how honest and honorable the Northerners were, especially the Stark family. So, he couldn't find a way for them to lie about it. Still, he would have to investigate it.
Yet, it was the name on the letter that make him wonder about what could it all mean. Since, if he was honest. It was hard to believe a child could think like this.
"Galadriel Stark, the oldest daughter of the Stark family."
Tywin whispered the name he has heard a few times now. It seemed as if she was involved in everything in the North and knowing her age; it was just harder to believe she was actually doing all of that. But no matter how much he tried to deflect the truth, sometimes, it was easier to accept it, and now. Tywin could only accept the fact a child, no older than six-year-old, was changing the North slowly.
"A prodigy, a genius, a mind like no other."
Tywin sat in his chair while he wondered what else was going on up there. Truth be told, he wasn't bothered or concerned about the North. They had always kept their heads out of Southerner affairs most of the time. They don't care about the Iron Throne, or who was sitting there. Yes, they showed respect when the king or the royal family if they go there, but that barely happens. So, slowly improving their standings was nothing to be concerned about.
