Ishan continued. "It's great that we met through the gaming app that day."

Before Aditi could response, Ishan said. "Bye. Good night sweet dreams."

The screen went dark, leaving Aditi stunned. She replays their conversation, analyzing Ishan's words. His compliment lingering in her mind.

As the days turned into weeks, their daily conversations became a cherished routine. They shared laughter, stories and experiences over texts and calls.  Aditi found herself eagerly anticipating Ishan's calls, excited to hear about his cricket practice and matches. Ishan, too, looked forward to Aditi's stories of photoshoots, fashion trends and her quirky observations.

Their bond became stronger with each passing day, until they realised they became good friends.

2018.

The cricket season reached its climax. The auction day arrived, and Ishan's anxiety was palpable. He got a text from Aditi. "You've got this!"

Ishan hastily typed a "Thanks, your support means a lot."

Just then, the auction results flashed on the screen. Ishan's eyes scanned through it as he nervously blinks. His eyes widening as he saw his name alongside the most successful team in the IPL league.

He sat stunned, processing the news. He has done it.  He has actually made it to Mumbai Indians. As the reality sunk in, Ishan's thoughts shifted to his family. He quickly called his parents, sharing the news.

"Mom, dad. I did it! Mumbai Indians picked me." Excitement radiating from Ishan's voice.

His mother's squeals of delight echoed through the phone. "Beta, what an amazing news. Proud of you!"

His father's voice filled with pride. "You deserve it! So happy."

Ishan's brother, Raj, chimed in. "Congratulations! I knew you would make it."

Ishan laughed , feeling grateful. "Thanks, guys. This wouldn't have been possible without your support."

His parents shared words of wisdom. "Ishan, this is just the beginning. Stay humble, work hard and make us proud."

Ishan nodded, even though they couldn't see him. "I will, I promise."

They all shared tears of joy, laughter and memories of his cricket journey.

Ishan hung up the phone, still grinning from ear to ear. He couldn't wait to join his new team and play alongside some of the best cricketers in the world. He imagined himself walking onto the field, wearing the new, blue and gold jersey, and facing the crowd. His thoughts then shifted to the team's captain, legendary opened. Rohit Sharma.

"Playing under his captaincy is such an honour." He thought, his excitement growing. Ishan's phone buzzed, snapping him back to reality. A text from the management of Mumbai Indians. "Welcome to the team, Ishan!"

This was it – his dream was finally coming true.

Ishan's phone ringed, breaking his reverie. He smiled as Aditi's name flashed on the screen.

"Hey! Champ." Aditi's bright voice filled the line.

Ishan chuckled at the name, still feeling elated. "Hey! What's up?"

"Just wanted to congratulate you. I'm proud of you." Aditi said, her tone warm.

Ishan's heart swelled. "Means a lot coming from you. Thanks a lot."

"How's your family?" She asked, always thoughtful.

"They're over the moon. Mom is already planning a celebration." He said, grinning.

They both then discussed everything from Ishan's training camp schedule to Aditi's photoshoots and ramp walk classes. As they talked, Ishan realised how much Aditi's support meant to him.

"Aditi?" Ishan said, his voice softer.

"Yeah." She replied.

"Thanks for being there for me.  You are more than just a.. friend."

Aditi's pause hinted at surprise. "Ishan, what do you mean?"

Ishan's heart skipped a beat. Had he revealed too much?

He hesitated before saying casually. "I just mean..you have been with me through all the ups and downs."

Aditi sighed and her tone softened. "Of course. That's what friends are for."

A silence settled between them as they tried to change the subject.

Aditi's pause lasted a beat too long. "So, when do you start training with your new team?" She asked, her tone light.

"Tomorrow." Ishan replied. "I am excited to meet the team."

Their conversation flowed smoothly, avoiding the earlier tension.

Next day.

Ishan walked to the dressing room of Mumbai Indians, nervous but excited. He was greeted by familiar faces, including the team captain. Rohit Sharma.

"Welcome." Rohit said, shaking his hand. "Glad to have you on board."

As Ishan introduced himself to the team, he spotted most of his teammates with whom he played domestic and state matches.

He eagerly walked to the other side of the room to meet Mayank, who has been selected for the IPL and they both got picked up by the same team.

"Mayank! Hey!" Ishan called out excitedly.

Mayank grinned and said. "Got selected! Can't believe we are teammates now."

They both then shared a warm hug. Their joy was short-lived as the media surrounding the new lineup of the team intensified. Fans took to social media, congratulating the players.

That night, Ishan and Aditi caught up over a phone call, relaxing after a chaotic day.

"Hey, how's life as cricket star?" Aditi teased.

"Crazy, but I'm managing well. Everyone in the team is very supportive. How about you? What's new?" Ishan said, chuckling.

There was silence from the other side, all Ishan could hear was soft background noise. "Hello?" He called out.

"Ishan?" Aditi said, her voice slightly trembling.

"Haa? Sab theek hai?" He asked worriedly.

"I have been selected for Miss Supranational!" Aditi's voice filled with excitement.

Ishan sighed, relieved. "Congratulations! You scared the shit outta me."

Aditi laughed and then her tone turned serious. "Ishan, I am nervous. It's a huge platform."

Ishan offered reassurance. "You are smart, talented.  You'll rock this one!"

His words warmed her heart. "Haha, thanks!"

As they talked, both of them realised how proud they were of each other's accomplishments.

"When do you leave for the pageant?" Ishan asked.

"Next week, probably," Aditi replied. "I'll be busy with rehearsals and events."

Ishan's schedule flashed through his mind. "I have a match around that time. But I'll try to catch up with you."

"I would love that." Aditi said.
