When Veronica woke up the next morning, she was sick as a dog. Luckily, however, Tia was still asleep next to her, so Veronica quickly slipped out of bed, heading downstairs to her laptop. She knew she'd get caught, so she took her computer upstairs and hid in her office.
Veronica sat down and opened the computer, going back to work designing an outfit for her next show. She had the headpiece she had been working on up in her office so she decided that she'd work on that too. However, Veronica was constantly sniffling and coughing very very loudly.
She was worried she'd wake Tia with all the loud noise, so she tried to silence herself. The last thing she needed was Tia to wake up and make her go back to sleep. Not when she had so much work to do. But sleep sounded kind of nice now...
Veronica quickly shook the thought from her head and continued to type. Veronica was fully aware she was neglecting her health, but she didn't care. She wanted to get her work done and god help anyone who tried to stop her. Although she wasn't sure how well she could fight in her sickly state.
Another coughing fit soon approached, followed by a sneeze. Veronica sniffled as her vision became blurred due to the tears that were starting to brim her eyes. However, all her work came to a screeching halt when the door to her office slammed open, startling her.
"Veronica. What the fuck do you think you're doing?" Tia spoke, glaring at the smaller girl. Veronica decided to snap back.
"I'm working, Tia, what does it look like?" Veronica spoke sassily. Tia's eyes went wide. Veronica never talked like that to her, not even if she was absolutely furious.
"What the, what's with your attitude? And why aren't you asleep?!" Tia asked, utterly bewildered by Veronica's change in demeanor. Veronica simply rolled her eyes.
"I'm not even sick anymore, Tia! Leave me alone! Go away!" Veronica shouts. Tia frowns, knowing Veronica was lashing out due to not feeling well.
"Oh really? Then why did I hear you coughing from downstairs? Sounds to me like you're pretty sick." Tia deadpanned.
"Go away!" Shouted the ginger.
"Okay, that's it." Tia smirked, approaching the ginger and lifting her up, wrapping an arm around her before tickling her belly. Immediately Veronica started to smile.
"T-Tia! That's n-not fair!" Veronica squealed.
"Are you gonna tell me to go away again? Hmm?" Tia spoke in a teasing voice.
"N-No! Stop it! P-Please!" Veronica flailed her arms and Tia laughs this time, moving her hands off Veronica and letting her have a breather.
"Come on, Ronnie, let's get you to bed." Tia spoke lovingly, and in response, Veronica let out a whimper. Tia tilts her head, not understanding why Veronica was so against the idea.
"Okay, Ronnie, what's going on? Darling, I'm worried about you." Tia spoke, concern evident in her eyes.
"I-I just don't wanna l-let e-everyone down! P-People are counting on me, I-I can't break m-my promises!" Veronica spoke, beginning to cry, and trying to avoid eye contact. Tia frowned, and pulled the sobbing Veronica into her arms. Veronica pushed away, shaking her head.
"Ronnie, you are neglecting your health and I'm not going to let it continue. Just let me take care of you, I promise you aren't weak for taking some time off." Tia spoke with concern in her eyes. Veronica froze. She hated feeling so vulnerable. She merely reaches for Tia.
"There we go, that's it." Tia spoke in a tender voice as she lifted Veronica off the ground and carried her downstairs. Veronica, shaking from the cold, nuzzled up to Tia, desperately trying to warm herself up. Tia smiled and, once downstairs, covered the shivering Veronica with a fluffy blanket.
"There. Is that better?" Tia smiled. Veronica nods, but still holds her arms out, wanting Tia to hold her. Tia tilts her head, not getting the hint.
"H-Hold, please?" Veronica murmurs softly, and Tia grins, picking Veronica up and settling her on her lap, gently scratching the top of her head. Veronica smiles, curling up into a ball and nuzzling close to Tia.
"Aww. My clingy Ronnie." Tia teases, causing the ginger to stare at her, blank faced.
"Eh... Sorry. I couldn't resist." Tia smiles. Veronica sighs.
"If you weren't so warm, I wouldn't be hugging you right now." Veronica spoke, causing Tia to laugh.
"Well thanks, Ronnie. Now that you mention it, you do feel really cold. Wait here for a minute." Tia gets up and walks to the kitchen, turning on the kettle to make some tea. Veronica liked it very sugary, and Tia was impressed with herself for remembering.
Tia also grabbed a pot and began to cook some soup, knowing that would help make Veronica feel better. While Tia cooked, Veronica tried to get comfortable. She felt so cold and so hot at the same time, likely because of her fever, but it still sucked.
She heard the clank of pans and she assumed Tia was cooking. She tried to go to sleep, but her nose was so stuffy that it was hard to relax. She knew she needed more medicine but she really didn't want it. Tia probably would make her take some, though.
She heard footsteps come up, and in walked Tia, holding a bowl of what Veronica assumed was soup, and a cup of tea. Veronica grimaced, knowing the medicine was coming. Tia placed the bowl and the cup on the bedside table and poured the medicine into the cup, before instructing Veronica to drink.
Thankfully, Veronica obliged without much of a fight. Tia was thankful, but also worried, knowing Veronica probably felt too weak. Tia sighed, sitting down and flicking on the TV, keeping the volume low so Veronica could sleep. Veronica smiled.
"You feel better?"
"Much better, thanks to you."
