(Third-Person)
Adeline didn't have time to react as a group girls surrounded her, venom dripping from their words. Their frustration with her was palpable, thickening the air around the old, abandoned pool.
"What's it like, being Damon's new plaything?" one of them hissed, stepping closer.
Adeline's jaw tightened. "I'm not his plaything," she shot back, glaring. "Why don't you mind your own business?"
But her resistance only fanned the flames. "You think we don't see it?" another girl sneered, crossing her arms. "He's always around you, always staring. Like you're some—some special case."
"Don't flatter him," Adeline muttered, holding her ground despite her heart hammering in her chest. "He's just being a nuisance."
Her words barely had time to register before one girl stepped forward, shoving her back. "Maybe you should stop seeing him if you know what's good for you."
(Adeline)
"I'll do whatever I want," I replied coolly, holding my ground. "You don't get to decide who I talk to."
They shared glances, and I felt my heart race, adrenaline surging through me.
I was done being intimidated.
But then one of them stepped forward, shoving me back with a force I hadn't anticipated. My feet slipped, and I stumbled.
Before I could regain my footing, I was sent tumbling backward.
Time s l o w e d as I fell, the world above fading away.
I hit the water with a jarring splash, the cold enveloping me like a shroud.
My instincts kicked in, but panic clawed at my throat. I
flailed, legs kicking against the icy depths, but I couldn't swim.
The realization hit me like a brick—I was drowning.
How I regretted not attended swimming classes when I was 11.
Bubbles escaped my lips as I struggled to break the surface. My heart raced, each beat loud in my ears. I kicked harder, desperate for air, but the surface felt impossibly far away.
With every passing second, my lungs screamed for oxygen. The distant laughter of the girls echoed as I sank deeper, their mockery haunting me.
This can't be 'THE END' of my life.
I had imagined WAY MORE interesting ways how I would die.
My vision blurred, and darkness loomed ahead.
