Title: Chemistry of the Heart

Taehyung stood at the front of the lecture hall, passionately explaining the complexities of organic chemistry. His students were captivated, but his attention was drawn to YN, sitting a few rows back. Today, she looked off, her brow furrowed and her notes untouched.

As he wrapped up the class, he noticed her wincing slightly. Concerned, he approached her desk as the other students filed out. “YN, are you okay?” he asked, his voice low.

She forced a smile, but it faltered. “I’m fine, just... a little under the weather.”

“Under the weather?” he asked, arching an eyebrow. “You look pale. What’s going on?”

She sighed, glancing around to make sure no one else was listening. “It’s that time of the month. It hit me harder than I expected.”

Taehyung’s expression softened, concern flooding his features. “You shouldn’t have to tough it out. Let’s get you some help.”

“But your next class—”

“Can wait,” he insisted gently. “Your health comes first. I can’t focus on teaching if I’m worried about you.”

Reluctantly, she nodded, grateful for his attention. He led her out of the lecture hall and through the bustling campus to a nearby café. The warm atmosphere offered a comforting escape, and Taehyung ordered her a soothing herbal tea.

As they sat in a quiet corner, he pulled out a small pack of pain relievers from his bag. “Here, take these. They should help ease the discomfort,” he said, handing them to her.

“Thank you, Taehyung,” she said, her voice warm with appreciation. “You really didn’t have to go through all this trouble.”

“I wanted to,” he replied, sincerity in his gaze. “You mean a lot to me.”

Their fingers brushed as she took the pills, sending a small jolt of electricity between them. The air was thick with unspoken feelings, and YN felt her heart race.

As she sipped her tea, a playful smile appeared on her lips. “You know, with how well you take care of me, I might start calling you my personal doctor.”

Taehyung laughed, his eyes twinkling. “Just a chemistry professor doing his job. But I’ll take that title if it means I can keep looking after you.”

Suddenly, YN’s phone buzzed on the table, interrupting their moment. She glanced at the screen, her expression shifting from playful to serious. “It’s my mom,” she said, her voice tense. “I need to take this.”

Taehyung nodded, sensing the change in her mood. As she stepped away to answer the call, he tried to push aside his concern, but it gnawed at him.

After a few minutes, YN returned, her face pale. “I—I need to go home,” she stammered, her eyes wide.  I think I have to go home”

“Do you want me to come with you?” Taehyung asked, his protective instincts kicking in.

“No, it’s okay,” she replied, forcing a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “I’ll be fine. Just... text me later?”

As she hurried out, Taehyung felt a pit in his stomach. Something didn’t feel right.

Later that evening, as he prepared for bed, his phone buzzed. A message from YN lit up the screen: “Thanks for everything today. I’ll keep you updated.”

But as he read her words, another message popped up from a group chat with other professors: “Did you hear about the incident at the campus? A student was found unconscious in the chemistry lab.”

His heart raced. The student’s name was familiar—someone from YN’s class.

Without thinking, Taehyung grabbed his keys and rushed to the campus. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.

When he arrived, he found a group of students gathered outside the lab, whispering anxiously. Pushing through the crowd, he caught a glimpse of the paramedics wheeling someone away on a stretcher.

“Is YN here?” he asked one of the students, panic rising in his chest.

“She was in class when it happened,” the student replied. “But we haven’t seen her since.”

Taehyung’s heart sank. He quickly texted her again, but there was no response. Just as he was about to lose hope, his phone buzzed. It was a call from her.

“Taehyung?” Her voice was shaky. “I’m at home. I just got the news about the student. I’m really worried.”

“I’m coming over,” he said, his voice firm. “Stay safe.”

When he arrived at her apartment, he found her pacing anxiously. The moment their eyes met, he rushed to her, wrapping his arms around her tightly. “You’re okay,” he murmured, relief flooding through him.

“I can’t believe it,” she whispered, tears brimming in her eyes. “What if it was someone I knew? What if I could have helped?”

“You did help,” Taehyung reassured her, pulling back to look into her eyes. “You’re here, and you’re safe.”

As they stood together, the tension of the day began to dissolve. The events had drawn them closer, revealing the depth of their feelings amidst the chaos.

In that moment, Taehyung realized that life was unpredictable, and while chemistry could explain so much, it was the chemistry between them that truly mattered. And no matter what happened next, he knew they would face it together.
