Rose Anders never really fit in anywhere. Due to her awkward aura, and lack of social skills... most of her life was spent indoors, playing mario-kart with her little brother Tom. But if there was one person who she truly enjoyed being around, it was Hannah Baker- her best friend.

When Hannah moved to her neighbourhood, Rose at first didn't notice. Up until she was randomly invited to a party of hers, set up for her ex best friend's departation from the town, since she was going on from highschool, and towards college.

Rose hadn't expected to go to a party that day. But in total honesty, Rose had never been happier around smelly teenagers before. Drinking tons of beer, talking to strangers... and most importantly, befriending Hannah Baker for once and for all. And being friends with Hannah, made Rose's life so much brighter and better than it was. Her Dad had recently passed away, which took a big toll on her school work.

But whenever she was around the wonderful Hannah Baker, Rose was a new person. She had motivation, energy and felt... happy. Hannah would always visit Rose at her job at Monet's Cafe as the barista.

Hannah would always manage to get a free drink, which was only the bonus to their hangouts at the cafe. Rose would also often visit Hannah at her job at the cinema, where Hannah worked with Clay Jensen- a guy she knew from school.

He was nice and often awkard... which matched her energy often. Hannah would always call them soulmates due to their weird similarities, such as their interests in movies, video games and oddly enough- chess. Rose loved chess, and when she found out Clay shared that love for chess as well, she and him immediately set up a time and date to hang out and just play chess for hours.

But soon, drama started to spread. Hannah slowly became distant, and everyone started to shame her. Rose never believed the rumours. She would still visit Hannah, they would still hang out. But that wasn't enough and soon... Hannah tragically ended her own life.

Rose was devastated. Her one true friend, her BFF, her sister, was gone.

Rose stood in front of Hannah Baker's locker. It was covered with notes, gifts, stickers. you name it. The picture of the once alive, the once loved Hannah Baker was plastered right in the middle. And Rose couldn't stop looking at it with cold eyes.

Her undereyes were dark- indicating her lack of sleep. Her skin was pale and white, meaning she hadn't gotten vitamin D in a long time. A shaky sigh escaped from her chapped lips. Her eyes shut, and the image of Hannah's crying face appeared. She flinched, her eyes opening widely.

Someone tapped her shoulder. "Um, excuse me..." Rose turned to see 2 complete strangers, holding their phones in hand. "Could you move? We're trying to take a picture with our beloved Helena Basker." The girl said. Rose scoffed. "Do you mean Hannah Baker?" Rose retorted. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Move, freak." Rose was abruptly pushed aside, and was immediately ignored.

Rose sighed, and began to walk away when she met the sad eyes of Clay Jensen. She and him stopped hanging out after Hannah died. But in all honesty, she missed playing chess with Clay. She missed laughing at his punny Star Wars jokes, and their nerdy conversations.

She managed to crack a small smile. It was real and genuine. He seemed to have catched it, returning an awkward smile back- along with his signature geeky wave which always made her chuckle. But it only felt nostalgic this time.

With hesitation, she continued to walk. The bell went off as she sat down in her seat in History class. The teacher began to ramble on and on about The Plague. And her eyes slowly drifted over to the empty chair nearby.
