Chapter 4: The Marron Tart

(Y/n) sighed as she waited in line to get her and Audino some lunch. "Wowww they have so much food!! I'm getting the grilled chicken!!" Grim said. Unfortunately he was far too enthusiastic and bumped into a senior causing him to drop his pasta. "Hey what's the big idea?! Making me drop my food. Ya know what I think I'll take that grilled chicken as collateral." He said as he tried to reach for Grim. "Touch him and you'll lose that arm." (Y/n) said. "Tch?! The fuck you think you gonna do little girl. Shut up and butt out." Lycanroc burst out of his pokeball and began snarling at the senior. "Lycanroc thunder punch." The Wolf pokemon's arm erupted in electricity. It looked as though he was smiling. It was very off putting to the senior especial because he didn't want to get electrocuted. "Ya know... I was just kidding..." He very obviously lied. "Just beat it before lycanroc makes you swallow your teeth." He ran off to go eat what was left of his lunch. "What do you want Lycanroc?" She asked her wolf before he pointed at some lasagna. (Y/n) laughed as she remembered him getting into the pasta when he was a rock ruff. "Some things never change. She sat down with her friends. "wow he's pretty cool." Ace said as he looked at lycanroc who was politely eating his lasagna. "Lycanroc here is actually apart of my champion team." (Y/n) said. "Your what?" Deuce asked. "Oh right. I am the champion of alola. Making me the strongest trainer in the region." She explained. "Wait wait are you serious?!" Ace asked. "Yup. And this guy right here was on the team I beat professor Kukui with to earn my champion title." The two boys looked a little wery of lycanroc after that. (Y/n) let Persephone out of her ball as well. "Persephone here wasnt. I found her as a bounsweet after I became champion. The 3 pokemon you saw me pull out at the entrance ceremony are also part ofy champion team. And mudsdale from when we got the magic stone. And the only member you haven't met is alolan ninetails." Deuce pulled out the pokedex that (Y/n) let him hold onto.
"Lycanroc the wolf pokemon. Midnight form. And the evolved from of rockruff. It's invigorated by powerful opponents-the stronger the better. A full-force headbutt from one of these Lycanroc can shatter giant boulders." Ace looked shocked. Deuce then pointed the dex at Persephone
"Tsareena the fruit pokemon. And the final evolved form of bounsweet. Its long, striking legs aren't just for show but to be used to kick with skill. In victory, it shows off by kicking the defeated, laughing boisterously." "Woah." (Y/n) nodded "hey party people." A familiar voice spoke. Cater came and sat down. Along with a boy with glasses, green hair, and a club beneath his left eye. "Ahh it's the dude that tried to kick us out of the dorm." "Hey! When we aren't in the dorm I don't have to follow the rules so I'm just Cater-kun who is kind to his underclassmen!" "You better be. That wolf of hers can punch with lightning." Ace said. Lycanroc finished his lasagna and nodded in response. "Sorry about that. My name is Trey Clover. I'm a 3rd year like Cater. " "so." (Y/n) pulled the spoon out of her mouth. "Ive seen yalls dorm. But what about the others." She asked. "Hmmm look at that guy over there." (Y/n) listened as he explained the dorms. (I'm not typing all that out. It's very boring lmao.) After Trey finished explaining Ace stared going on about how Riddle was 'super crazy.' (Y/n) tried to get her friend to shut up. "Ace!" She finally yelled. "Huh? Housewarden?!" "I'm super crazy am I?" "Uhh super crazy cute!" Cater said trying to cover for ace. But Riddle wasn't having it. "Keep talking like that and you'll lose your head." Persephone got up from her seat and poked Riddle. "Ree Reena tsar ree" "she said that she would like to learn more about your dorms rules." Ace looked dumbfounded. "Are you serious?!" Riddle cleared his throat. Before turning to Ace. I was going to come take your collar off but by how you were talking it's clear you didn't learn your lesson. Now don't dawdle. Queen of hearts rule number 271. One must eat and leave the table within 15 minutes." Riddle said before he turned to Persephone. "If you would like to learn about our rules then please join me in the heartslabuyl rose maze after school." (I'm not gonna do it as a shenanigan as it wouldn't make sense after the book. So it will be in this chapter.) Persephone nodded. "And Trey. Queen of hearts rule number 339. After a meal you must drink a lemon tea with two sugars." Persephone looked a little confused on that one. "So ace how you gonna replace that tart." (Y/n) said as she watched riddle leave. "Riddle likes to have the first slice of a tart so you'd have to get him a whole one." Cater butted in. "Man I can't afford that." "I can help you make one but I'm not gonna do it for free." Trey said and laughed when they looked at him. "Relax I'm not gonna take money from underclassmen. I'll just need you to gather chestnuts. About 2-300 for the Marron tart." He explained. "I have the perfect pokemon for this. Especially my special baking friend." "You have a special baking friend?" Ace asked. "You'll meet her later. We can meet at the trees behind the botanical garden. I think you can find chestnuts there." She said. "When did you have time to explore the campus huh?" Ace asked. "You forget I have pokemon?" "Oh... Yeah..."
(Timeskip)
(Y/n) had picked a team of Vivillon, Audino, decidueye, and Alcremie. While Persephone went to go meet with Riddle. When they met at the trees audino had to stop grim from getting thorned. "We will go see if we can find a bucket."
(Meanwhile with Persephone)
Persephone stepped through the Heartslabuyl mirror. She headded to the rose maze to find riddle in a small gazebo. "Tsree Reena!" She called to him. "So you were serious." He mummbled before pulling out a chair for her. "Reena." She nodded in thanks as she sat down. "Your welcome. So how about we get started on these rules." Persephone nodded. Riddle poured some tea. "Do you drink tea?" He asked. To which she nodded and he poured a cup for her. "Reena." He nodded.
(Back with (Y/n))
As (Y/n) and grim walked through the botanical garden with Vivillon she didn't notice a brown tail in the walk way. "Ouch!" (Y/n) stopped at the noise and when she turned around she was face to face with a lion boy. With wild hair save for a few braids and piercing green eyes. (Y/n) would have been blushing if he wasn't currently barring his fangs at her. "You got some nerve stepping on someone's tail without saying sorry." "Tail? Oh arceus I'm so sorry I didn't see it." The lion boy sniffed her before Vivillon landed on her shoulder and slapped him with her wing. "Vivvvvv!" "Huh? Awww this thing aint nearly as intimidating as that lizard you had at the entrance ceremony. (Y/n) found herself pressing up against a tree. "listen I said I was sorry I have somewhere to be." "Sorry herbavore, but I don't think you quite ment that." "Vivillon! Sleep powder!" (Y/n) managed to duck under his arm as a green powder was expelled from Vivillon and the lion was back to sleeping. She found a bucket and headed back to the boys. "What took you so long?" Ace asked. "Don't ask." "Got it." When they finished collecting all the chestnuts they headed to the kitchen to meet Trey. (Y/n) pulled out another Pokeball. "Time to meet the baking friend I told you about." Out of the ball popped a little creature seemingly made of whipped cream with little clovers on its head. Deuce pulled out the pokedex.
"Alcremie the cream pokemon, matcha cream form, and the evolved form of Milcery, The moment it evolved, it took on an aromatic flavor. This is because of the way its cells spontaneously shifted during evolution. It often offers it's cream to people it trusts."
"It really is the ultimate baking partner." Ace said. "It's so cute." Deuce said. Alcremie immediately made her way to Trey. "Cremie!" "Nice to meet you Alcremie. My parents would love to have an Alcremie." Trey said. "They own a bakery or sweets shop?" "Yeah. How'd you guess that." "Alcremie are naturally drawn to bakers. She helps me with my pokepuffs all the time."
(Back with Persephone)
"Queen of hearts Rule 23 never bring a cat to a formal event." Riddle stated as Persephone nodded. As he moved down the line of rules one made Persephone almost jump out of her chair. "During crochet your bat must be a flamingo of a color of the rainbow" Persephone slammed her hand down on the table as she started going on a rant that he couldn't understand. "Are you serious?! You dye the flamingos?! Are you nuts?! Is it safe dye?! I demand to see it! That can't be good for them! What is with this dorm and animals?!" Riddle tried to calm her down. Being able to tell she was angry even if he couldn't understand her. "Would seeing it help you calm down?" He asked and saw how her posture calmed down. He lead her to a shed and and pulled a bottle of dye from the shelf and handed it to her. As Persephone read the ingredients she found one that was known to irritate flying type pokemon so she shook her head. "Are one of the ingredients bad?" She nodded. His eyes widened. She grabbed something with a pointed end to point to the ingredient. "Oh dear... Could you accompany me to the school store to find a replacement dye. Persephone nodded. So the two made their way to the school store to look for dye. Persephone looked at every bottle before she found a brand without it. "Reena!" She called. "You found one?" She nodded and handed the colors to him and he took a look himself to confirm if the ingredient wasn't there. And so Riddle payed for the new dye and the two headed back to Heartslabuyl. "Thank you for that. Hopefully the flamingos will be safer now." Persephone nodded.
(Back with (Y/n))
It was time to peel the chestnuts. "Audino psychic. Vivillon air cutter." (Y/n) called as audino's eyes turned blue and chestnuts floated in the air. Blades of air cut through the chestnuts. "You better start peeling because they aren't doing all the work." (Y/n) said and Ace groaned. As Trey got to baking with Alcremie's help he realized that he didn't have enough cream. "Oh dear. You all got so many chestnuts that I didn't realize that I don't have enough cream." "Can't Alcremie make up the difference." (Y/n) quickly shook her head. "Alcremie is good for small doses and enhancing the flavor but she can't make up that much in a short amount of time." Trey handed her a list. "Just go to the school store and get these." Trey said. "I'll go with you." Deuce said. The two headed to the school store with Audino and Vivillon. The place was creepy to say the least. "so... Creepy..." Vivillon poked a voodoo mask. "Also creepy..." (If you get the reference I love you!) "Hello little lost lambs. Welcome to Mr. S's shop. What can I get for you today?" Deuce handed him the list. "Just what's on this list." "And some tuna cans!" "No Grim. No tuna" "awww man!" (Y/n) glared at the cat. When 'Mr. S' returned with the items audino used psychic to carry them. "You alright carrying those Audino?" Deuce asked as audino simply nodded. "Don't worry. She's using psychic not really putting a strain on her body. But non psychic types get exhausted a lot faster when using it." (Y/n) said. Deuce then grabbed the groceries from audino's psychic. To which audino huffed but made no move to grab them back. "I'm used to it ya know. My mom always bought more than we needed and as the only man in the house it was up to me." Deuce explained. They walked for a bit before they ended up walking right into the senior from before. However 6 of the eggs ended up breaking. "Oh... It's the little beast tamer. Where's your little wolf this time." (Y/n) balanced an Ultraball on her finger. "Right here actually~" the ball popped open and out came the angry wolf. "Now we have som-" she cut herself off as she could tell deuce was getting angry. "Please reimburse us for the eggs and apologize to the chickens" Deuce said. "Hah? You stupid or something." (Y/n) stepped in front. "Your ears clogged up? He said pay for the damn eggs you broke." The senior now grabbed (Y/n) by the shirt who only smirked. "Bad move dude." The senior was about to say something before he doubled over in pain and also paralyzed. Lycanroc glared at the man who was now on the ground and snarled. The other one was about to step in before Deuce punched him. "Did anyone ever tell you not to put your hands on a lady?!" Deuce said. "Also instead of becoming chicks those eggs were gonna become a sweet treat for us." "Uhhh Deuce that's not...." Before (Y/n) could say anything else Deuce started punching them. "Ya know what that works too." "Lycan." Lycanroc responded. "Now go apologies 100 times to chickens when you eat eggs!" Deuce yelled. The two ran off as (Y/n) looked at Deuce who now looked upset. "You good dude?" "I went delinquent again... I said I was gonna be a model student this time." He said sadly. "You call that being a delinquent. I have delt with worse than that. Team skull was.... Oh boyyyy. All you did was give them a well deserved beating. Even model students fight sometimes. I know I did." (Y/n) pat Deuce's back. "Lets get back to the others. Also... About the eggs... They weren't fertal they wouldn't have hatched anyway." Deuce looked dumbfounded. "I..." He was shook out of it by Lycanroc pushing him along. When they made it back to the others. "Hey lycanroc! Wait why is Lycanroc out?" Ace asked. "We ran into a bit of a problem... But we got everything. Some of the eggs got smashed." Trey took the items from her and got to work to finish of the tart with alcremie's help. One large tart sat surrounded by small ones. For the ones that worked so hard for them at least untill Cater showed up. Earning a snarl from lycanroc. "Heyyy those look good!" Lycanroc fired up thunder punch before (Y/n) told him it's fine. Cater took a pic of the tart for his magicam. They all took a bite of their respective smaller tart with (Y/n) splitting hers for her pokemon.  "Wow! It's amazing" (Y/n) said as her pokemon gave off various cries of their names. "Ohh Trey do the thing!" Cater exclaimed.  "Huh? Oh! Okay. Everyone hold your tarts out for me and think of your favorite food. Doodle Suit!" (Y/n) took a bite out of her tart after thinking of a Tamato Berry pokepuff immediately tasting the spiciness of her favorite treat hit her tongue. "Woah! That is amazing. It tastes just like a Tamato Berry pokepuff! Mmmm so spicyyy!" (Y/n) said happily as she continued to chow down on her now spicy treat. "It tastes like tuna, and now cheese omurice, and now grilled chicken." Grim said as he continued to eat the flavor changing tart. "Leave it to (Y/n) for her favorite food to be something spicy." Ace said as he took a bite of his newly enhanced tart. "Yooo it tastes like cherry pie." Ace said. "Bet it would be popular with the ladies ay (Y/n)?" Cater asked earning a growl from Lycanroc. "I dunno about that. But my dad would definitely enjoy it! He always says he misses the MREs from when he was in the military." (Y/n) said. "Your dad was in the military?" Ace asked. Looking kinda surprised to which she nodded. "Yep Lieutenant Surge!" "Woah" (Y/n) shook her head looking out side to see how late it was getting. "Ace we better head back to the dorm it's getting late." Ace nodded. After inviting Deuce along and stopping Lycanroc from punching Cater after he asked to join too, the three made it back to the dorm and spent the night looking at (Y/n) photo album. "And this was when I beat the Akala Island grand trial. That's Olivia and her Lycanroc." (Y/n) said as she pointed to the Wolf pokemon that was down on all fours and lighter in color. She flipped a little farther into the book and showed her sitting in a large chair with her full team around her. "And this was the day I became Champion of Alola! I had made so many friends on my journey. My dad came to visit me not long after." She flipped to another photo.  It was her standing next to a man with spiked yellow hair a dog tag around his neck and what looked like a military pt uniform. "That's my dad." She said as she pointed out his pokemon all of them being electric type. "My dad is the electric type gym leader in Kanto, my home region. But I chose Alola to do my journey because of Alolan Raichu." (Y/n) said as she flipped back through the book to show two photos one with her and a small yellow pokemon and some sort of stone on the floor and the next showed her and Raichu. "As soon as I was able I got a thunderstone to evolve Pikachu into raichu." She said. The boys began hounding her for the story of her journey in detail. So reluctantly (Y/n) started telling them. As she made it to the end of her story even telling them about the ultra beasts she fought. Deuce was still flipping through the book when he found a picture of (Y/n) in a dress with Primarina and a few pokemon he didn't know. "What was this?" "Oh! That was my pokemon performance in kalos to be kalos queen. Before you ask. It's not actually a Royal title. It's the title given to the best pokemon perfomer in all of Kalos. I'll explain performances another time. It's time to head to bed. So we can take the tart to Riddle and Ace can get the Collar off.
