Kirishima stands nervously outside Bakugou's door, the mission clear in his mind: convince Bakugou to come to the pool with the rest of Class 1-A. As expected, Bakugou is less than thrilled at the prospect.
“What do you want?” Bakugou growls, red eyes glaring.
Kirishima flashes his most hopeful grin. “Come on, Bakugou. The whole class is going to the pool for some fun. You should come with us.”
“Fun? With those extras? Hell no.”
Kirishima, undeterred, leans in slightly, his eyes softening into a pleading look. “Please? It’ll be a good break...and honestly, it won’t be the same without you. Think of it like training,” he adds, hoping to appeal to Bakugou’s competitive side.
Bakugou scowls harder, clearly wavering. Then, with an exasperated grunt, he looks away. “Fine. But only ‘cause you won’t shut up otherwise.”
Kirishima grins triumphantly. “Thanks, man!”

When they arrive at the pool, the sight of Bakugou, stripped down to nothing but swim trunks, is...distracting, to say the least. Kirishima’s brain short-circuits for a moment, his gaze involuntarily tracing the sharp lines of muscle that stretch across Bakugou’s lean, powerful frame.
Holy crap, he’s...
Heat creeps up Kirishima’s neck as he quickly looks away. Get it together, man! You’re just here to hang out!
But no matter how much he tries to focus on the rest of the class or the fun atmosphere around them, his eyes keep drifting back to Bakugou, his heart racing for reasons that have little to do with hero training.
What the hell is wrong with me? Kirishima internally groans, gripping the edge of the pool tightly as the dragon within him stirs, sensing the strength and fire in Bakugou that keeps drawing him in.
---
As the day goes on, Kirishima cheers loudly for Bakugou during the race between him, Midoriya, and Todoroki. “Go, Bakugou!” Kirishima pumps his arm enthusiastically, ignoring the flurry of emotions brewing beneath the surface.
Just as the race kicks into high gear, Eraserhead puts an abrupt end to their fun, kicking them out of the pool area with a no-nonsense glare.
As the sun begins to set, Kirishima and Bakugou walk back to their dorms together, the tension from earlier replaced by a comfortable silence. Bakugou grumbles about how he’ll never let Midoriya or Todoroki beat him, his determination palpable.
Kirishima smiles, momentarily stunned by Bakugou’s intensity. There’s something so raw, so powerful in the way Bakugou pushes himself that makes Kirishima’s heart beat just a little faster. Even as Bakugou’s words swirl in the air, Kirishima’s mind is on the dragon within him, the one that yearns to claim, to protect. But for now, he’s content just walking beside Bakugou, enjoying the warmth of the fading sun and the quiet understanding that hangs between them.
