I've always been aware of my deep feelings for Basil that go beyond friendship. I would go to great lengths to ensure his happiness, even if I have to kill. So when he came to me in tears, devastated by the betrayal of a despicable person, I couldn't just stand by and do nothing.
So I killed them, my only regret was letting Basil see me do it.
