The train picked up pace soon after leaving Jaipur station. A girl wearing pink lehariya kurti with blue jeans, her waist length hair in a messy pony, little hairs all around her face and her earlobes bare, was sitting on the side berth. She held a folded paper in her left hand and had leaned over the glass window, feeling tired. Her eyes were drooping but she had to stay awake till the TT comes to check the tickets.

"Kaha reh gaye," she said checking both the doors to see if there is any sign of the TT. While one side was empty, she could only see a part of a backpack on the other, as if someone was standing at the door with their luggage.

Akshara huffed. She hoped that the TT came soon, so that she could get the ticket checked and sleep for the next 6 hours at a stretch till she reaches Udaipur.

Just she was about to close her eyes again, the ring of her phone jolted her, almost making her drop it.

"Hello," she said answering the call quickly, not checking who it was calling.

"Akshu, train nikal gayi station se?" came her mother's voice.

"Haan, Mumma. Abhi 10 minutes hi hue."

"Why didn't you call then?"

"Sorry Mumma, bhool Gayi. I haven't slept properly for a week, and it has messed up with my brain."

"Last week you again pulled all nighters, hai na?" Asked her mother sternly.

"Arre Naira, Top Karna hai toh Karna padta hai," Akshara teased her mother.

"Stop copying your Baba," chided Naira and Akshara giggled.

"I am just waiting for the TT to come and then I want to sleep till I reach Udaipur."

"Itna bhi mat sona ki station nikal jaaye."

"Ek baar chut Gaya tha, first year mein aur aap ab bhi taane maarti ho. I am in my fourth year now, almost a doctor. Ab toh Baksh do," she whined.

"And why you didn't miss the station after that? Because I called you to wake you up every time," said Naira and Akshara rolled her eyes.

"Dont roll your eyes at me!" She reprimanded

Akshara's eyes widened, "H-how do you know?, she said spooked although it was not the first time.

"Because I am your mother. Now listen, Krish will come to pick you up. I too wanted to come but the train is arriving very late and I have a meeting early in the morning."

"Krish Bhaiyya is already in Udaipur?"

"Ya, your Bua asked him and Emily to reach early as it is their first Diwali after their wedding."

"Ok" said Akshara.

"Message him your train details. He will be there to pick you up." Said Naira.

"Ok Mumma. How is Baba? Hope he is taking his medicines."

"He is fine. He has been very happy since the last few days," said Naira without thinking.

"Kyu? Aisa kya ho Gaya?" Questioned Akshara.

"Arre...woh" she replied sounding a bit flustered.

Before her mother could reply, Akshara said, "oh, I know I know. After all, his favorite grand daughter is coming home after looong 6 months."
