"I'm Susie Haltmann. I'm a ninth grader at the local high school. And-"

Mistilteinn jumped into her arms as she stood up.

"Once I made a contract with Mistilteinn, and then I became a magical girl!"

Taranza's eyes slowly opened to see his familiar bedroom ceiling above him.

He sat up, rubbing his eyes, and yawned.

"Another weird dream." He mumbled to himself.

He looked at the collection of stuffed animals on his shelf, and there sat Mistilteinn .

"Good morning, Taranza!" Mistilteinn said, tilting its head to the side.

Taranza jumped a little, taking a second to remember what had happened yesterday hadn't been a dream, and laughed.

"Woah, cool apartment!" Francisca said amazed, as she and Taranza followed Susie into the room.

"Well, thank you!." Susie smiled. "I live alone, so feel free to make yourselves at home. But by the way of refreshments, I don't really have much."

In a matter of fifteen minutes, Taranza and Francisca were sitting on a small couch opposite of Susie, who sat in a chair. Each of them had a cup of tea, and they were drinking as they talked.

"So, since Mistilteinn chose the both of you, that means you're both involved in this, like it or not." Susie said. "I figured it'd be a good idea to have a chat."

"Sure, ask us anything you'd like." Francisca smiled.

"Francisca, I think you've got it backwards." Taranza said looking at the blue haired girl.

Susie smiled, and pulled the same pink gem they had seen earlier out of her pocket.

"Woah, that seems cool!" Taranza said, staring at the gem.

"It's called a Soul Gem." Susie explained. "When Mistilteinn chooses a person, one is created when they make a contract with it to become a magical person. It's the source of our magic, and proves that we're magical people."

"What's this contract you keep talking about?" Francisca asked, tilting her head.

"I will grant you one wish!" Mistilteinn said. "Any wish you desire!"

"Woah, really?" Francisca asked surprised.

"Anything at all?" Taranza added.

"Of course!" Mistilteinn said. "I can grant the most impossible of miracles."

"So, we could wish for anything?" Francisca asked. "Like, a mountain of treasure? Or eternal youth? Or a one-hundred course feast?"

"Maybe that last one's a bit much." Taranza grinned.

"In exchange for that wish, your Soul Gem is created." Mistilteinn explained. "However, if you possess a Soul Gem, it is your duty to fight witches and warlocks."

Taranza and Francisca both looked over at Susie, confused.

"Witches and warlocks?" Taranza asked, as he put one of his hand under his chin, confused.

Taranza was jolted out of his thoughts by the sound of the tap being turned back on.
