Evelyn sprinted after the man, her heart pounding as she chased him through the parking lot. She could hear Jake's footsteps close behind her, the chaos of the precinct fading into the background. The man was fast, but adrenaline fueled her determination, propelling her forward.

"Stop!" she shouted again, her voice piercing through the cool night air. The man glanced back, his eyes wide with fear, and she could see the wild desperation etched across his face. It was a look she had seen in the eyes of victims before, and it only fueled her resolve.

As he darted onto the street, a car screeched to a halt, narrowly missing him. The driver honked, frustration evident as they swerved around the scene. But the man didn't slow down; he continued running, weaving between parked cars, trying to lose them in the maze of the parking lot.

"Jake!" Evelyn called out, her voice straining. "Cut him off at the corner!"

Without waiting for a response, she changed direction, sprinting towards the edge of the lot. She could see him now, his silhouette darting toward an alleyway. She rounded the corner, determination coursing through her veins as she pushed herself harder.

As she entered the alley, the dim light barely illuminated her path. Trash cans lined the sides, and the air was thick with the stench of refuse. She spotted the man at the far end, hesitating for a moment, glancing back toward her.

"Don't make this harder than it needs to be!" Evelyn shouted, trying to catch her breath. "We just want to talk!"

He hesitated for a heartbeat, and in that moment, she could see the struggle within him. The instinct to run versus the desire to confront whatever was waiting behind him.

Suddenly, he took off again, deeper into the shadows. Evelyn followed, her instincts guiding her. The alley twisted and turned, darkened corners concealing hidden dangers. Just as she thought she might lose him, she caught a glimpse of his shirt a faded band tee with a logo she recognized from her teenage years.

"Wait!" she yelled again, but he kept running.

Ahead, the alley opened into a wider space, and she saw Jake just in time to see him attempt to leap over a low fence. But he miscalculated, catching his foot and stumbling to the ground.

"Get him, Jake!" she called, her voice echoing in the alley. She reached them just as the man struggled to rise.

Jake lunged forward, grabbing the man by the arm and pinning him against the fence. "You're not getting away that easily," he said, breathless but firm.

Evelyn stepped closer, her heart racing as she studied the man's face. He looked scruffy, disheveled, and scared, but beneath that fear, she saw something else: a glimmer of defiance.

"Who are you?" she demanded, crossing her arms. "What do you know about Sarah?"

"I don't know anything!" he protested, his voice shaky. "I swear! I was just trying to leave!"

"Then why did you run?" Jake pressed, his grip tightening. "You have a chance to help us."

The man's eyes darted between them, weighing his options. "I... I wasn't involved in anything! I just... I saw her! I didn't want to get mixed up in all of this!"

Evelyn's brow furrowed in confusion. "You saw her? Where?"

"After she left the club," he stammered, his breath coming in ragged gasps. "I saw her talking to that guy. The tall one from the video."

"Describe him," Evelyn urged, leaning closer, her pulse quickening at the mention of the mysterious figure.

"He was... intense. He had this way of looking at her, like he was... studying her. It freaked me out. I tried to say something to her, but she just brushed me off," he said, his voice quivering with emotion.
