Chapter 5: A beginner's guide to offense and defence

Abandoned warehouse

As Lucy and Genesis entered a huge storage room, they found that Goku, Luffy, Naruto and Ichigo were there waiting for them. "Sorry we're late." Genesis huffed. "It's ok, Gen." Naruto replied. "So, what training is up first?" Lucy asked.

"Ah yes, before that there is something that every member of the S.S.A has to learn once they join it that Goku and the other forgot to tell you about..." Ichigo said while looking at his colleagues with a sideways glance. "Huh? And what would that be?" Genesis asked. "The Shonen Association's Moral Code." Ichigo answered. "Oh yes, thanks for reminding me about that and sorry about forgetting about it." Goku remarked. "You are forgiven..." Ichigo replied

Lucy brushed some dirt of her skirt and then asked "What exactly is this Moral code?" "In order to realize our goal for a time when everyone wakes up and sees why this world needs heroes, members of the S.S.A need to follow a set of rules." Naruto began to explain. "Because if they don't, they might get kicked out." Luffy added to the explanation. "Well... that's a possibility, but anyways.." Naruto continued.

"First things first, you must keep your identity as a member of the Shonen Association a secret, and not reveal to anyone who could be brainwashed or turned into a Venom." Goku said. "Ok, I got that." Genesis remarked. Lucy on the other hand couldn't help but asking, "What happens if you do reveal your secret identity to someone who could be one of those." "If you do reveal it to someone, especially a Venom, either they'll attack you or turn you in to the New World Order." Goku answered. "Oh, I see." Lucy replied "Well, is there anything else we need to know?" Genesis then asked.

"Secondly, you must always be alert about your colleagues and respond as quickly as possible if they are in need." Naruto explained. "Because when a group like us in on the battlefield the only way for them to properly operate is working together." Lucy smiled and said "I'm always up for things like that. I'm pretty good when it comes to cooperating." Naruto gave the young girl a thumbs up and replied with "Good for you."

"Third of all, you must respect the feelings and opinion of others." Luffy said. "because nobody likes a person who says 'I'm always right and everyone else is wrong' and metaphorically shoves their own ideals down the throats of others." Lucy then asked "So in other words, 'don't be narcissist' right?" The Straw-hat pirates captain nodded. "Exactly that." he said.

"Fourth, you must never escalate a situation that you are in unless the New World order forces you to." Ichigo explained. Genesis titled their head and asked "How specifically would the New World Order 'escalate the situation', Ichigo?" "It's probably best if you don't think about it." the Shinigami replied. "Ok, well if you say so." Genesis remarked.

"And above all you, need to remember the fifth and most important rule of them all..." Goku began. "And what would that be?" Genesis asked. After they asked this, Goku, Naruto, Luffy and Ichigo revealed this 'most important rule' all together "YOU MUST NEVER KILL!!" Genesis and Lucy, who probably never though about killing, were taken a back by this. After a few seconds, Genesis asked "Never kill, like ever?" "Unless it's necessary." Goku responded. "How necessary?" Lucy asked. "Long story short... REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY necessary." Luffy answered. "You don't need to tell us twice." Lucy remarked.

After an awkward silence, Goku asked "Now that you have heard of those rules, can we trust you to follow them?" Genesis thought for a moment before answering with "If these rules help us make the world see the reason why it needs heroes like us in it, then you can trust me to obey them my friends." Then they bowed with respect. "That's good to know, Gen." Goku responded, before turning to face Lucy. "How about you?"
