Yin have always been working alone. The amount of times he managed to save himself from death was uncountable and he was convinced that if he had someone to help him, this person would one day or another betray him because he trusted no one. The 22-year-old agent believed that being close to people would bring him no good. He refused to be like his parents who were once betrayed by someone that claimed to be close to them and ended up losing their lives because of their naivety.

However, receiving such a news today had surely made his mood drop ten feet underground. He was assigned to work with someone from now on and no was not an option.

As he dashed inside the chief of the Bangkok headquarters' office, he seemed to be fuming with anger, not even greeting the other man who was shocked to see him in this state. Yin used to be a calm and silent boy ever since the Unit had recruited him. He would always follow the orders and do his job perfectly as long as they fulfilled his only wish to work solo. Perhaps it was why he was reacting this way now that he had to work with another person, a thing that the chief totally understood after digging into the youth's tragic past.

Dao sighed and stopped Yin before he would even start throwing the tantrums that he had already expected. " You can't say no before trying. I'm not going to ask you to fully trust him or let your guards down but this man is our only way to get to the Golden Dragon's gang."
Yin rolled his eyes and let out a scoffing chuckle, "I really don't care, Dao. I told you since day one that I will never accept working with a partner. I've been doing well on my own and having to babysit someone would only hold me back."

Dao leaped to his feet and walked towards the other man, placing a hand on his shoulder. " he will not be a hindrance to you, I promise. Do you think that we haven't kept an eye on him before assigning him to this mission ? This person had been working undercover for years and managed to gain their trust. You know so well how hard we tried to get to them before but we failed. At the beginning, we didn't want to choose you for this mission but you keep insisting that...."

"Because they killed my parents," Yin heaved a sigh and looked at Dao with empty eyes. "I want to know where that man is and personally kill him. Don't I deserve that after everything I've done for your organization ? But making me work with someone whom I've never met and definitely not trust at all will ruin all my chances..."

"He will not," Dao interrupted, "once you meet him and work with him you will understand. You shouldn't judge people based on one experience. I'm not asking you to stop being careful but sometimes, we can't do everything on our own. It's okay to work as a team in order to achieve our goals. You just need to try."

Hearing these words was definitely not convincing for Yin but did he even have a choice ? He knew that if he refused working with that man, he would miss the opportunity to find the person who ruined his life a few years ago and he cannot afford that. In the end, he decided to give in. He would not trust him– but he would try to make things work. At least that was what he promised before leaving Dao's office.

"Let's play a game, shall we?" The tall man with a beautiful smile said as he patted the little boy's hair. "You hide inside the closet and wait there until mommy and I come and find you," he added, pulling the smaller frame between his arms. The latter didn't know why the person holding him was crying. Was it a part of their game? He had never seen his father in such a state before but he couldn't understand anything. He was just 9 years old after all and before he could ask anything, he was pulled into his own bedroom and locked inside the closet.
"No matter what you hear, don't make a sound. I promise that I'll be back."

A gunshot followed by another, a loud scream tearing through the heavy silence and there he was, waking up with a jolt after yet another nightmare. He knew that he could never be able to enjoy a peaceful sleep, even though 13 years had passed but the memory was still vivid in his mind, reminding him of his misfortune.

The phone notification pulled him out of his dark thoughts and he grabbed the gadget, looking at the screen blankly.

Message received at 20:20—
<<Today at the White Lotus night club. The target will be there. Make sure to work in harmony with your new partner. He would be there to give you a hand just in case you needed help. Good luck sweetheart. ;) >>

« Fuck you, Dao! » Yin grunted as he threw the phone on his bed before he shifted his weight up and walked towards the bathroom. It was going to be a very busy night so a cold shower was needed to help him get rid of the horrible headache he was feeling after drinking himself to sleep last night. If he didn't receive the other man's message, only god knows when he would be waking up but that was how his life went since forever: working, going to the gym, drinking and then sleeping. He got stuck into this vicious circle for years and despite Dao's tries to set him up with someone, sending him on blind dates and even paying people to talk to him, Yin had always found a way to ruin it. His heart was not ready for love or companionship. He didn't even sleep with someone for fun. Sometimes, Dao would start doubting that this youth was human because a normal boy his age would crave a woman – or a man's touch but Yin had always looked at him with disgust in his eyes whenever he brought that topic up.

Looking at himself in the mirror, he lazily buttoned his shirt up letting the last upper ones open to give him a more casual look. He didn't bother to do anything to his slightly long hair since it already looked fine like that. Yin grabbed his gun from the drawer and hid it in his clothes. Ready to leave, he made sure to turn all the lights off and fetched his motorcycle keys.

Flashing lights, loud music and the smell of different fragrances mixed in the air, filling the huge sophisticated place. Yin hated this kind of atmosphere. He had never stepped a foot into a crowded area by choice. If he had to, it would be for a mission and he never enjoyed trying to fit in with this kind of people that he despised uncontrollably. He was an alcoholic, but he did it alone because he wanted to find peace in the little time during which he could escape reality. Walking through the wave of bodies swaying to the loud music, he managed to finally get to the bar. Sitting down, his eyes scrutinized the area before finally landing on the figure behind the wooden counter.

« Good evening, sir. What would you like to order? » the bartender asked, a gentle smile stretching his lips as he looked at Yin with big, sparkling eyes. The latter was lost in them for a moment. He didn't know why but that innocent gaze drew him in and caught his attention. Perhaps because in a place like this, he doubted that an angelic creature could fit in. The boy seemed so young hence, Yin couldn't hold back from asking, « aren't you too young to be working here? »

The bartender chuckled amusingly and leaned against the counter, his eyes turning into two perfectly shaped crescents.

« Is me being a 29-year-old not that obvious or are you complimenting me to get free drinks? »

Yin almost choked when he heard the other man's words and thought that he was messing with him. « No way. I thought you were a high schooler and was about to give you a good scolding. Turns out you're way older than me, » Yin jokingly said and pointed the tequila bottle, « two shots, please ».
The bartender laughed again and callously grabbed the bottle before serving his customer as he inquired, "how old are you then? Oh, I'm War by the way."

"Nice to meet you, War. I'm Jack and I'm 22."
