Chapter 8: The Veil of Fog is Lifted!

Previously...

"Just as it seemed the Fog Spirit was going to kill the Slime Gluttonia, something came flying through the air and chopped his hand off. With that the swirling fog began to dissipate and return to its original state. The Fog Spirit looked down at his now disappearing hand in confusion. As the Slime Gluttonia fell, he was suddenly caught by soft, white fluff. The creature looked around, bewildered.

Slime Gluttonia: I'm...Alive...?

As the fluff disappeared around him, his siblings rushed over to him, relieved.

The Fog Spirit looked around the forest, trying to find the culprit responsible for attacking him.

Fog Spirit: Who dares...

Arceus walked out from the woods and began walking towards the Fog Spirit. She stopped a few feet in front of him. The Fog Spirit looked at her, his eyes narrowing.

Fog Spirit: Oh? Are you the one that attacked me?

Arceus remained silent.

Fog Spirit: Not so talkative, are you? No matter.

The Fog Spirit raised his now reformed fist and aimed to punch Arceus.

Fog Spirit: PREPARE TO DIE, VERMIN!"

Few seconds earlier...

As the Fog Spirit grew larger and larger, Arceus felt a chill run down her spine. The sheer size of the creature was overwhelming, and she couldn't help but feel a sense of dread. She was scared and didn't know what to do as the Fog Spirit kept growing bigger and bigger. But suddenly, she calmed down when she noticed how the fog around the Fog Spirit was moving.

Arceus: Wait! The way the fog is moving. It kind of looks like... a ghost type...

Rotom: Analyzing... The Fog Spirit's size is unprecedented. But you are correct! It is a ghost flying type!

As the Fog Spirit continued to grow, Arceus watched in horror as it grabbed one of the Slime Gluttonias. The creature's cries for help echoed through the forest, and Arceus knew she had to act fast. Suddenly, her brain came up with an idea.

Arceus (thinking): Ghost types are weak to Ghost and Dark... Gasp Rotom!

Rotom: Yes?

Arceus: How do I learn Shadow Ball?!

Rotom: Shadow Ball? Why Shadow Ball?

Arceus: So I can save that Slime Gluttonia!

Rotom: But how will you catch the Slime Gluttonia when it falls?

Arceus: How will I catch it?

Arceus closed her eyes, deep in thought. Suddenly, a light bulb appeared above her head.

Arceus: Cotton Guard! Rotom, can you help me learn Shadow Ball AND Cotton Guard, please?

Rotom: On it!

Arceus watched as the fog started swirling around the captured Slime Gluttonia, slowly killing it.

Arceus: Come on, Rotom...

Rotom: Found it! Notice! To learn Shadow Ball, focus your energy on the ghostly essence within you. Visualize a dark, swirling sphere forming in front of you. Channel your power into it, and let it grow until it's ready to be unleashed.

Arceus: Thank you!

Arceus closed her eyes and began to concentrate. Suddenly, she felt a surge of energy within her. She focused her mind and felt something begin to form in front of her. She could feel the power coursing through her, ready to be unleashed.
