3rd Person POV
The next day at school, the unease settled back into Izana's chest as he walked through the bustling halls, the usual sounds of laughter and chatter feeling hollow. He had hoped, against his better judgment, that Y/n would show up today. But as he took his seat in class, the reality hit him again: she was still absent.
The day dragged on, each class a blur of half-hearted conversations and distracted thoughts. Izana couldn't focus, his mind constantly wandering back to Y/n. He found himself glancing at the door, waiting for her to walk in with that familiar smile. But the bell rang, and it didn't happen.
"Dude, what's eating at you?" Kakucho leaned over, raising an eyebrow. "You've been staring at out like it's going to open up and give you a free pass to happiness or something."
Izana scowled, trying to brush it off. "Nothing," he replied tersely. "Just... tired."
"Yeah, tired of lying," Sanzu chimed in, smirking. "You're worried about her, aren't you?"
"I said it's nothing!" Izana snapped, his voice sharper than he intended. The room went quiet for a moment, and he could feel the weight of their gazes on him. It irritated him, but deep down, it also felt a little comforting to know his friends cared.
"Okay, okay, chill," Kakucho said, raising his hands in mock surrender. "But seriously, if you're that concerned, why don't you just check in on her? You know where she lives, right?"
The suggestion hung in the air, and Izana felt a rush of anxiety. Could he really reach out? What if she didn't want to hear from him? What if she was avoiding him on purpose?
"I don't need to check on her," he lied, trying to sound casual. "She's probably just taking a break."
"Or maybe she's avoiding the chaos that follows you around," Sanzu quipped, grinning.
"Shut up," Izana muttered, glaring at Sanzu, but the truth was, he couldn't shake the feeling that he needed to know how she was doing. The thought of her being alone, scared, or hurt made something twist in his gut.
As the hours crawled by, he found it harder to concentrate.
Finally, lunch arrived, and Izana couldn't stand the weight of the day anymore. "I'll be right back," he announced, pushing his chair back and standing up abruptly.
"Where are you going?" Kakucho asked, looking puzzled.
"Just... to get some air," Izana replied, not bothering to explain further. He needed a moment to think, to breathe, and to figure out what to do about Y/n.
He stepped outside, the fresh air hitting him like a wave. He leaned against the wall, staring out at the students milling around, laughter echoing in the background. But all he could focus on was the absence of Y/n's voice among them.
"Damn it," he muttered under his breath, running a hand through his hair. He knew he had to do something. He couldn't just sit here, pretending he didn't care when he clearly did.
With a sudden resolve, he pulled out his phone and navigated to her contact. His heart raced as he hovered over the call button, debating whether to actually go through with it.
Just as he was about to hit dial, his phone vibrated in his hand. A message popped up from Kakucho: "We're all heading to the arcade later. You in?"
Izana hesitated, but the thought of being around his friends, trying to forget about Y/n, felt empty. He typed back, "No, I think I'll pass."
