Chapter 1: The Last Hope

The skies above Planet Vegeta burned with the light of hundreds of battle pods ascending into the dark expanse of space. The Saiyan home world was a planet under siege, not from an enemy they could fight but from a decision made in cold blood. King Vegeta's rebellion had failed, and the tyrant Frieza had made his move. A giant spherical ship loomed menacingly in the heavens, like a death sentence hovering over the Saiyan race.

Inside a small facility on the outskirts of the capital, Bardock stood in front of a singular pod, his jaw clenched and his eyes hard with determination. His son, Kakarot, slept peacefully inside, oblivious to the chaos that surrounded him. This was the only way, Bardock knew. Kakarot would be the one to carry on the Saiyan bloodline, the last hope for their race. As he prepared the final launch sequence, the sound of footsteps echoed behind him.

"Bardock," a familiar voice called.

Bardock turned to see you, (Y/N), a young warrior from his unit and one of the few Saiyans he trusted. Your spiky black hair matched his own, though your battle-worn armor told of far fewer years. You had always been fierce in battle, but your loyalty was something even the coldest Saiyan could respect. Right now, your face mirrored Bardock's own, filled with the same grim realization of what was about to happen.

"(Y/N), you need to get out of here," Bardock said, his voice gruff, but not unkind.

You stepped forward, glancing at the sleeping Kakarot. "Sending him to Earth? A low-level planet?"

"Earth is the only place he'll be safe," Bardock replied, his voice filled with an urgency you had never heard before. "Frieza's going to destroy us, all of us. If Kakarot can escape... he'll have a chance."

"And what about us?" you asked, knowing the answer but needing to hear it anyway.

Bardock's eyes narrowed as he looked at the small screen in front of him, the countdown for the pod's departure ticking down. "We're Saiyans. We fight."

You clenched your fists, your knuckles turning white. Every part of you wanted to fight, to rush at Frieza's ship and make the tyrant pay for what he was about to do. But you knew, deep down, it would be suicide. And yet, there was something else at play here, a flicker of hope that Bardock wasn't speaking aloud.

"We can't just send Kakarot," you said suddenly, stepping forward. "If you're right, if this is the end of the Saiyans, then we need more than just one to survive."

Bardock's head snapped toward you, his eyes blazing. "You're not thinking of—"

"I'll go with him," you interrupted. "If Kakarot's going to grow up on that planet, he'll need someone to train him, to remind him of who he is. If you're serious about saving our race, then I'm going."

For a moment, Bardock said nothing. The harsh lines of his face softened, if only for a split second, before he nodded. "Alright," he said finally. "If anyone's going to teach my son how to fight, it might as well be you."

Without another word, Bardock tapped on the control panel, recalibrating the pod to include you in its life-support systems. "Get in," he barked. "We don't have time."

You stepped up to the pod, looking down at Kakarot one last time before climbing in beside him. It was cramped, barely enough room for the two of you, but Saiyans had survived worse. As the hatch sealed above you, the faint hum of the pod's engines powering up filled the air.

Through the glass, you saw Bardock take a step back, his arms crossed over his chest. His gaze was hard, but beneath that, you could see something more—a father sending his son away, entrusting his future to you.

"I won't let you down," you mouthed, though you weren't sure if Bardock could read your lips.

The pod shook violently as it lifted off, shooting up into the atmosphere. Below, you caught one last glimpse of Planet Vegeta, the sprawling wasteland that had once been home. You watched as Bardock turned away, a small figure against the backdrop of a world doomed to die.

As the stars stretched out before you, a weight settled in your chest. You and Kakarot were now heading toward a world neither of you knew, with nothing but the memory of a race that might soon be wiped from existence. But you wouldn't let it end there. You would survive, and Kakarot would grow into the warrior Bardock believed him to be. And together, you would make sure the Saiyan race lived on.

The pod's navigation system beeped softly, indicating its course had been set. Earth awaited.

And so did your destiny.
