MIKEY IS -

real life, social media

"Okay, so, you know I'm listening to this, and it's very obvious who this song is about," Orma said, sitting back in Stevie's studio chair with an amused smirk. She had just finished listening to the recording Stevie made and was now waiting for the inevitable confession.

Stevie shrugged nonchalantly, trying to play it cool. "I know that, but only people who know I like her would pick up on it. It's fine. I get a new crush every two months," she replied, brushing it off like it was no big deal.

Orma rolled her eyes, leaning back with a dramatic sigh. "You're such a crush whore," she teased, crossing her arms.

Stevie chuckled, pausing the track on her computer before turning to face her best friend. "Yeah, well, somebody's gotta keep things interesting."

Orma studied her for a moment, a knowing look on her face. "Okay, tell me about Mikey," she pressed, crossing her arms. She could tell Stevie wasn't going to brush this off like her usual crushes. The fact that she made a whole song for Mikey? That wasn't something Stevie did for just anyone.

Stevie shifted in her seat, suddenly feeling a little shy. "She's... cool," she started, struggling to find the right words. "Like, really cool. We've been hanging out more lately, and she's funny, kind of quiet, but in a good way. She's just... easy to be around, you know? And... I don't know, I feel different around her. Less... stupid."

Orma raised her eyebrows. "Different how? You don't write songs about every girl you think is cute."

Stevie bit her lip, fidgeting with the hem of her shirt. "Yeah, I guess she's just... special. Like, I actually want to get to know her, not just think about her from a distance. And when I'm around her, I don't feel like I have to act like anyone else but myself."

Orma's teasing grin softened into a genuine smile. "Damn, you really like her, huh?"

Stevie sighed, leaning back in her chair. "Yeah, I think I do."
