"So, what do you want to talk about?" Chabashira-sensei's voice interrupted the silence, curiosity masking her usual sharp tone. "You must have a good reason for pulling me aside. Someone like me doesn't have time for small talk." Even though she acted indifferent, it was clear she had some idea of what was going on. Something important had happened, enough to push someone like me, who usually liked to stay in the background, to take action.
Ayanokouji stayed quiet, his gaze drifting away. He stared at the ocean, which sparkled under the pale moonlight. The calm scene clashed sharply with the tension in the air.
"That night was peaceful, too. Until the grim reaper decided to show up and ruin whatever peace I had left," he said softly, almost to himself.
"Get to the point," Chabashira snapped, her voice cutting through the moment. She ignored the slight grimace on Ayanokouji's face.
With a small sigh, Ayanokouji finally spoke. "This incident... I think someone planned it, targeting me."
Her brow furrowed, and a flicker of disbelief crossed her face. "Targeting you? What do you mean?"
"It's not impossible," Ayanokouji replied calmly. "It could be a powerful organization-or even the government. They managed to infiltrate the school and access classified information. Their goal seems clear: expose everything I've done to the entire student body." He paused, letting his words sink in. He knew he didn't have solid proof-just a suspicion. But a well-placed suspicion could be just as powerful as facts.
"...So, you want me to investigate who's really behind this?" Chabashira broke the silence, her voice quieter now.
"Not exactly." He shook his head. "I just need your support for what happens next."
A chuckle escaped her lips. "You do realize that since you've given up on trying for Class A, I don't have to protect you anymore, right?"
Ayanokouji's gaze stayed steady, his expression unreadable. She was still underestimating the situation, trying to bait him into going back to the original deal. She still didn't understand the bigger picture, leaving him with no choice but to raise the stakes.
"Sensei," he said, his voice cold and calm, "you don't seem to grasp your position. You've lived your life, become an adult, a teacher-but you're still tied to your past. You even threaten your students to get what you want." He straightened up, locking eyes with her, his tone emotionless. "What do you think would happen if the school's administration found out about the rules you've bent and broken?"
For the first time, Chabashira-sensei's expression wavered. She met his gaze, her eyes hardening with determination. "Report me? Without proof, it's your word against mine. The administration would trust a colleague over a student's unfounded accusations."
"You and I both know," Ayanokouji replied smoothly, "that it only takes one of those threats to be revealed. Not only would Class A become a distant dream for you-but your career would be over."
Silence stretched between them as Chabashira-sensei considered his words. The weight of the threat hung heavily in the air.
"Let me think about it," she finally said.
Ayanokouji's voice was sharper this time. "Sensei, you're misunderstanding. This isn't an offer; you simply have no choice."

"So the true leader of our class wasn't Horikita, but Ayanokouji?" someone echoed, disbelief coloring their voice as they repeated their leader's earlier revelation."I don't get it," another student from Class C grumbled. "What's the point of hiding the fact that you're the leader and using Horikita to cover your tracks?"
