For a while Ochako and Dabi just stood there across from each other, staring at each other's eyes. Brown locked to blue.
"I'm not a villain" Ochako managed to say, causing Dabi to chuckle. "Oh? Then what do you call this?" He gestures to the scorched forest. Ochako clenched her fists. "I was just having fun...I didn't expect...I was trying to--"
Dabi’s grin widened, amusement flashing in his eyes. "Having fun by burning down a forest? Could’ve fooled me" He took a step closer, his posture relaxed but his eyes sharp, like a predator sizing up its prey.
"You've got quite the talent there, princess. But last time I checked your quirk is supposed to be zero gravity. Did you get bored of your lame ass quirk because you keep getting compared to your friends better quirks? Did you managed to get your hands on some type of drug that changed your quirk? Something like that?"
"He's awfully chatty" Ochako thinks. "I-I don't know why my quirk changed alright?" She hissed at him. "It just did, and it's none of your business!"
Dabi grins making Ochako feel unnerved. "Look at this" he gestured to their surroundings. "You’re dangerous now, you know that? More dangerous than you were before" He gestured to the scorched land around them. "Look at this. This isn’t the work of some goody-two-shoes hero. This is what villains do"
"So I burned down some parts of a forest! So what? That doesn't automatically make me a dangerous villain! I'm nothing like you!" Ochako stomped her foot and just then flames erupted from her foot burning off her shoe. "Oops"
Dabi chuckled, the sound low, he seemed greatly amused by her. "You keep saying that, but actions speak louder than words" He walked towards her, eyes trained on hers challengingly. "You've already got the hunger for destruction. You can feel it, can't you? That rush when you watch everything burn"
Ochako's breath hitched. He wasn't entirely wrong. There WAS a rush. But she couldn't let herself give in to it, could she? No! No no no she couldn't.
"I-I'm in control" she muttered, more to herself than to him.
"Keh, are ya?" Dabi raised an eyebrow. “Because I was watching you, and it looked to me like you were minutes away from losing yourself to the flames. And when you do, they're going to come after you. Your precious teachers, your friends. They'll turn on you the second they realize what you've become"
Ochako frowned. "Wh-what I've become? What are you saying?" She was getting nervous. What the heck was she even doing still talking to this guy? Maybe her new quirk gave her more confidence, after all, it was powerful.
"I'm saying if they think you're incapable of controlling your new quirk and end up a danger to people, they'll turn against you so fast it'll make your head spin" Dabi deadpanned.
His words cut deep
But Ochako shook her head trying to push away the doubt creeping in. "No, they won't"
Dabi scoffed and shrugged carelessly. "Maybe they will, maybe they won't. maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong" He paused, his eyes glinting with a dangerous allure. "I COULD help you, you know. Show you how to control it, how to use it without burning yourself out"
Ochako clenched her jaw, torn between the thrill of her new power and the fear of what it could make her. She looked at Dabi, his offer hanging in the air, tempting yet terrifying. Could she trust him? Well of course she couldn't, he's a villain!
"W-what's it to you? What do you get out of this?" She dared to ask
"What I get out of this is a possible new recruit" Dabi revealed.
"You're crazy to think you could recruit me!" Ochako exclaimed.
"If I didn't stand a chance then we wouldn't be talking in the first place" Dabi said. "So what's it gonna be princess? Train with me or lose control of yourself?"
She didn’t answer right away, the purple flames still dancing around her like they were waiting for her decision.
