I Start Thinking About Leah Differently

It didn't happen overnight.

Sure, the prospect of them playing characters who would eventually get together lurked in the back of his mind, but Walker hadn't really dwelled on that too much. They were actors. It was part of their jobs.

Lately, though, things had been different for him somehow. When Leah entered a room, his heart rate would speed up. Every time she laughed at something he said, he would feel a burst of satisfaction. When they side-hugged each other for pictures, he would become extremely aware of her arm draped over his shoulder. He was afraid to make eye contact with her for too long, but he also couldn't help but be mesmerized by her soft brown eyes whenever he looked into them.

Don't make this weird, he would scold himself whenever he caught himself getting distracted by her. We're just friends. There's nothing wrong with being friends with your co-stars.

He wasn't sure when he started noticing her like that and getting nervous around her. It was really hard to avoid feeling that way, because they spent so much time together. She didn't seem to notice his odd behavior, which was good, but he was worried someone else would.

When he watched interviews of him, Aryan, and Leah, he would get so conscious of how awkward he looked and how much he stared at her. Was it that obvious to everyone else, too?

Stop thinking about this, he told himself silently. It's dangerous. If you actually allow yourself to crush on her, the fans and paparazzi would be even more obsessed with us than they already are. We wouldn't have any privacy. I can't let that happen to her.

He did his best to focus on his scenes, putting all of himself into memorizing his lines and getting the stunts right. Whenever interviewers asked him about Percabeth, he would find a way to deflect it or change the subject subtly.

But it was hard to avoid Leah. She was so naturally beautiful and funny and smart. She hung out with him and Aryan all the time. It was excruciating to keep all his feelings and thoughts inside of him.
