The ButterflyI burst through the door of the dorm and scared the shit out of Stacy who looked like she'd just woken up.
"Jesus Christ, Elle! What he fuck?!" She sat on her bed with her hand over her heart. "I think you gave me a heart attack."
"I think I know Zack," I looked at her with wide eyes and her face morphed from panic to confusion.
"Um, Yeah.." She looked at me a bit concerned as she dragged out the 'yeah'.
"No, no. I mean like, I think I knew him before I met him here." At this point I was pacing and Stacy was on her feet like she was debating whether or not I was going crazy.
"Noah told me some things about him that literally match up perfectly with things that happened to me," I stopped pacing and looked at her. "Do you remember the accident I told you about? With the coyote?"
"Yeah, I do. It happened like..four years ago, right?"
"Exactly! I'm from Upton and so is he. Noah told me Zack showed up in LA four years ago, that he'd talked about some girl and a bad accident. I've always felt so comfortable around him for a person I barely know. I had some amnesia after the accident and I never remembered him but I-"
"Elle. Breathe." Stacy gently grabbed both of my arms to calm me. I hadn't even noticed I was rambling, my pulse was racing too.
I took in a deep breath and tried to sort my thoughts as I exhaled. "Stacy, I remember someone used to call me Rosie and I couldn't figure out who. Zack calls me Rosie," I pulled the silver chain from the inside of my shirt. "This necklace, my mother had this made for me when I was born. I lost it after the accident."
"Where did you find it?" She asked, curious.
"I didn't."
Her expression turned to confusion. "What-"
"Zack gave it to me."
"Oh fuck." Her eyes widened. "You have to call him or something like, right now. There has to be so much more to it if he kept that necklace that long."

After about an hour of calming down and trying to figure out what to do, I reluctantly decided to call my dad first. I wanted to see if maybe I could get something out of him. I knew it might end in an argument, but since I was doing what I was told to - being at this college, maybe he wouldn't be such a dick.
The phone rang a few times and I thought about hanging up but before I could he answered.
"Hello?"
"Hey, dad. It's Roselle."
"Oh, hey darling. How are classes going?"
Of course, straight to the school talk. I rolled my eyes.
"They're good. Listen um, I was wondering.. was there anything or anyone I never remembered after my accident?" I asked as I looked out the curtains of our dorm window. There was a brief silence before he responded.
"Why do you ask?"
"Dad." My tone was stern and normally if I caught him in a decent mood I could crack him. I didn't have time to pry it out of him. There was a long pause.
"That damned James boy.." He sounded like he was talking under his breath trying to keep me from hearing him but that was another thing he was bad at.
"Are you fucking kidding me!?" My voice was a near shout as I turned to look at Stacy, sharing a knowing look. Her expression was one that said 'really!?'
