The Grand. I have been here before. The salads are nice. It's the only thing I was allowed to eat to ensure I maintained my figure. No one wanted a fat fiancé, I was told on numerous occasions. Perhaps today, I could eat something from their five-star chef that wasn't just rabbit food. Dominico doesn't seem fazed by what I eat as long as I eat, which is refreshing.

Dante opens my car door, and I climb out as Dominico stands at the entrance, speaking to someone I do not know. He had asked me to wait for five minutes while he handled some business with the owner, which increased my anxiety level. What exactly were we doing here?

I wish I could ask these questions, but I doubted I had any right to any answers. I was just here, doing what others told me to do—the theme of my life. Except now, after this car ride, there was a light at the end of the tunnel. I could be free. However, the condition attached to it might be a higher price than I can afford to pay—two months in a relationship with a man who already made me feel all mushy. Imagine being in the same bed as him. I'd be a walking puddle at the end of my sentence.

I approach the man in question, his silver-grey eyes roaming my figure and making me squirm with a feeling I try hard to suppress. Desire. Lust. Stronger than I have ever experienced in my whole life. And more than I can comprehend, considering everything I have been through. I never thought I would ever feel desire like this again. Sexually, I thought I was broken.

Dante and Nero disappear inside while two of Dominicos bodyguards remain behind, their eyes scanning the empty parking area. It seemed strange that no one was around.

As I stand before Dominico, his eyes rake my face.

"Have you made a decision?" His question catches me off guard. I didn't know I had such little time to decide.

I stare at him, my mind swimming with my options—few and far between. If I tried doing this alone, I wouldn't be free. Not with such an attractive bounty on my head. So what choice did I really have but to make a deal with the devil himself?

His eyebrow lifts, and my heart races as I feel the pressure of my answer.

"I agree." The words spill from my lips, sealing my fate as my heart beats erratically in my chest. The anticipation of all that is entailed makes this both thrilling and scary.

A smirk stretches across his face as he slips his hand into mine before we enter the lobby of the sleek restaurant.

"As mine, no one disrespects you. A message needs to be sent—one that is necessary to ensure your safety. Are you ready for that?" I don't understand what he is saying until we enter the large restaurant area, which lacks guests, bar two.

I stop in my tracks as I look at Senator John Underwood and a young woman about my age, her eyes devoid of emotion. Blank. A look I know well as I had seen that same look reflected in my eyes so many times during my old life. Defeat.

Their presence here is unexpected. We left after Dominico's declaration last night, leaving no opportunity for me and the Senator to cross paths again, thankfully. But now he was here, and I was being forced into something I didn't really understand.

"Come. Don't be afraid. Next to me, nothing will happen to you."

Dominico gently tugs on my hand and forces me forward.
