My Straight Boyfriend

Chapter 3

~A Month Later~

In the college cafeteria, Mayank and Abhishek were sitting at a table observing the scene in front of them with completely done expression. Because Ishan and Shubman were engaged in a heated argument over the last doughnut on the table. Behaving like children, their voices a little louder and their actions a bit comical.

"Let go, you big giraffe! It's mine!" Ishan screamed at Shubman's face.

"Not a chance mutt" Shubman smirk and replied.

Their bodies intertwined. Shubman's one hand was wrapped around Ishan's waist, holding him in place. Meanwhile, Ishan's one hand was attempting to reach for the doughnut, which was held by Shubman's other hand. His other hand was gripping onto Shubman's shirt, and their legs were hooked around each other.

But suddenly Sara walked in, "Why are you two fighting?" Sara asked and took a large bite out of the doughnut that had been the cause of their dispute.

"Sara Nooooooooo" Ishan and Shubman cried at the top of their lungs at the same time.

"Woahh! What happened?" Sara said still unconcerned and eating the doughnut.

Abhishek chuckled and gave Sara a playful nudge on the shoulder and said, "You just squashed the hopes of two grown men with one bite of a doughnut. Good job"

"Well thanks!" Sara said and laughed with Abhishek and Mayank.

"BTW tum dono aise kyu chipke hue ho?" Sara asked. Sara's question snapped Shubman and Ishan back to reality. They quickly untangled themselves from each other's hold, brushing off their clothes and hairs.

Everyone giggled looking at them, embarrassed by the situation, Shubman glare at Ishan and said, "I hate you, stupid f*g"

"SHUBMAN!" Both Abhishek and Mayank shouted as they stood up.

But before they could say something more Shubman held Sara's hand, pulling her out of the cafeteria with him.

Ishan's heart felt heavy as he watched Shubman and Sara exit the cafeteria, his eyes  filled with hurt and sadness. He could see that Sara was scolding Shubman for his actions.

He couldn't help but feel a pang of hurt and disappointment, realizing that despite his attempts to be in neutral terms with Shubman, the other man's dislike was still present and strong.

Mayank, clearly fuming, was about to stride after Shubman when Ishan stopped him, "Just leave it. He's not worth it" Ishan said quietly.

Abhishek turned to Ishan and spoke in a sincere and apologetic tone, "I'm really very sorry Ishan for what Shubman said" Abhishek said, a regretful but sincere expression on his face.

Ishan took a deep breath and smiled at Abhishek, "It's not your fault Abhishek you don't need to apologize for him. And it's not the first time he's said something like that. It's alright. I'm Okay. Don't worry"

Mayank took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down a bit. His frustration was still visible, but he respected Ishan's words.

Ishan glanced at his watch, noticing the time, "Guys we should head to class. Lecture is about to start" Mayank and Abhishek exchanged concerned glances but nodded in agreement.

After their first meeting, their relationship devolved into a phase of constant bickering, teasing and always picking up small fights. Well Ishan often attempts to lighten the mood by engaging in banter and to keep things light and easy between them.

However, Shubman's approach was different; he expressed his feelings in a inhuman and demeaning manner. He always respond in a rude and biting way.

Shubman's dislike towards Ishan is rooted in his homophobia, and he often expressed his disdain and frustration through hurtful words. And this impact Ishan emotionally as he felt deeply hurt and upset due to Shubman's constant negative comments about him being gay.

In their first meeting also Shubman had made  hurtful comments that caused Ishan to cry. Both Mayank and Abhishek apologized on Shubman's behalf, expressing their regret over his behavior. They also apologize as they should have warned Ishan earlier about Shubman's aversion towards gay people.

Ishan is no stranger to hate comments about his sexuality. But he always brushed them off and refused to let them affect his emotions. He is a strong and brave individual.

However, it was different when those harsh words came from Shubman. Whenever Shubman made derogatory remarks, Ishan become saddened and upset, unable to understand why Shubman's words seemed to cut deeper than the rest.

After the class had ended and Ishan was gathering his belongings, ready to leave, he was still feeling drained and mentally exhausted.

Suddenly Sara appeared, "Hey..." she said with a smile.

"Oh! Hii Sara" Ishan respond.

Sara, looking slightly nervous said, "I'm really sorry about this morning, Shubman shouldn't have said those things, and I'm sorry you had to deal with that. He lets his anger get the best of him. I know it's not an excuse, but he's not a bad person"

Ishan gave a weary smile at Sara and said, "Sara, it's ok. Everything is fine, I'm good, and please don't say sorry, Okay?" He did not want to dwell on the morning's incident or discuss Shubman further.

"Umm...Yeah, Okay" Sara nodded and smiled slightly, sensing that Ishan did not want to discuss the matter further.

As Sara and Ishan continued to exchange few words she noticed that Shubman was packing his belongings and getting ready to leave the class without her.

"Ok bye Ishan" Sara said in a rush and then hastily ran after Shubman, who was making his way out of the classroom without her.

"Shub, wait up!" Sara called after Shubman.

"Why are you leaving without me? Huh?" she asked with a hint of frustration in her voice as she caught up to him.

Sara's question went unanswered as Shubman ignored her, continued to walk, engrossed in his phone.

Shubman and Sara had been together from the past two weeks. And as Ishan observed them he thought that Sara is a decent and a very good girl, she genuinely cares about Shubman.

But Shubman, he never returned the same level of effort and attention that she shows to him. It is clear that he did not care for her to the extent that she cared for him.

As Ishan was immersed in his thoughts, Mayank suddenly appeared and placed his hand on Ishan's shoulder. He looked at Ishan and said, "Chle meri jaan?"

Ishan put his thoughts about Shubman and Sara aside and nodded in yes.
