The next morning, Emma found herself standing in front of one of the country’s most prestigious companies for a job interview. She had pinned her hopes on this opportunity, telling herself that maybe this was her chance to turn things around. She took a deep breath and entered the towering building, her heart racing with a mix of nervousness and anticipation.
Inside, she approached the reception desk where a neatly dressed woman greeted her. "Hello, I have an interview scheduled here," Emma said, her voice steady but anxious.
The receptionist smiled and nodded. "Follow me, please," she said, leading Emma down a polished corridor to an office. The door was slightly ajar, and through it, Emma could see a man in his mid-30s sitting behind a large desk, reviewing some documents. He looked intimidating, exuding power and confidence.
Emma knocked softly and asked, "May I come in?"
The man glanced up, his piercing gaze locking onto her. "Come in," he said, his tone neutral but commanding. As Emma stepped inside, she handed him her file, trying to keep her composure.
To her surprise, he looked at her with a faint smile and said, “How have you been, Emma?”
Her mind raced, trying to place him. She didn't recognize him, but his tone was familiar, as if they had met before. Hesitantly, she replied, "I'm doing fine, thank you."
The man leaned back in his chair, casually flipping through her file. Without warning, he said, “Good. Then you may join us tomorrow.”
Emma’s eyes widened in shock. “Excuse me?” she blurted out, her mind struggling to process his words.
"You heard me," he said with a smirk. "Congratulations, you’re hired. We’ll see you tomorrow."
Her mouth opened slightly, but no words came out. She was in complete disbelief. Eventually, she managed to stammer out, “Thank you… I— I’ll be there.”
As she walked out of the office, her mind still reeling, the receptionist handed her an ID card with her name and photo on it. “Here you go, Miss. Your employee ID card. Welcome aboard!” the receptionist said cheerfully.
Emma blinked, staring down at the card in her hands. It all felt surreal—too good to be true. She had just landed a job at one of the best companies, with a generous package and the promise of a bright future. It was everything she had dreamed of, and it had happened so unexpectedly.
Without wasting another moment, she pulled out her phone and dialed James. He had become a steady presence in her life, someone she had come to rely on for support. The phone rang once before he picked up.
"James, you won’t believe it!" she said breathlessly, excitement bubbling in her voice. "I got the job! I can’t believe it—I'm starting tomorrow!"
On the other end, James sounded genuinely happy for her. “That’s amazing, Emma! I knew you could do it. Congratulations!”
For the first time in a long while, Emma felt like things were finally starting to fall into place. She had a good job, financial security, and someone like James who she could count on. She found him his best friend.
In the back of her mind, she couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something more to this sudden good fortune, something she hadn’t quite figured out yet.
As she left the building, the sun shining brighter than it had in days, Emma felt a strange mixture of happiness and suspicion. She pushed the thoughts aside for now—she was ready to embrace the good that had finally come her way.

Days passed and she learned a lot working with new people. And after a tiring day,she used to spend time with James, telling him each details.
The next day, Emma prepared herself for the meeting with **Xito Rise**, one of the biggest clients of **Vertex Dynamics**. The company seemed to value the opportunity highly, and Emma was eager to make a good impression. She dressed sharply and made sure to review the details of her tasks to be prepared.
Her colleague reminded her, "Emma, remember, it's a formal setting, and David, our boss, will expect you to be on point. Just be yourself, and you'll do fine."
At 7:00 PM, a car arrived at her place, just as her colleague had mentioned. Emma felt a bit nervous but determined to prove herself. As the vehicle headed to the hotel restaurant, she wondered what the night would bring and who David, her boss, really was—she still hadn't met him yet.
Upon arriving, she stepped out of the car and entered the luxurious restaurant. The ambiance was elegant, with soft lighting and sophisticated decor. As she walked in, she noticed a few familiar faces from her team already seated. The restaurant seemed to hum with the anticipation of the important meeting.
She found herself seated near the head of the table, where she assumed David would sit. There was an unspoken sense of importance surrounding the occasion.
As she settled into her seat, the doors to the restaurant opened, and a tall, well-dressed man entered, commanding the attention of everyone present.
"That's David," one of her colleagues whispered, her voice tinged with awe.
David was an extremely charming man, the kind that could make any girl fall for him. As the meeting wrapped up, they discussed the key points with investors and finalized the paperwork. Emma took diligent notes, ensuring she captured every important detail.
When the meeting ended, the investors left after signing the necessary documents. David walked over to his team, offering handshakes and appreciative words.
"Great job, guys. And Emma, you did well," he said, his hand lingering slightly longer when he shook hers.
Just as Emma was about to leave, she caught a pair of eyes she hadn’t expected to see—**Alexander Reed**. He stood at the far end of the room with a group of men dressed in sharp suits, likely his associates. She felt a pang of confusion and emotion surge through her. What was he doing here?
As she moved to exit, Reed swiftly grabbed her hand. "Come, I’ll drop you," he said, his voice both commanding and familiar.
Emma resisted, pulling her hand away. "No need. I can take care of things by myself," she snapped, a whirlwind of emotions swirling inside her. She hated how he came and went from her life without explanation, making her heart race only to vanish. She couldn’t stand the way he was sometimes too good, and then, just as easily, too distant.
While she shook off his hand, suddenly David appeared beside her. "Do you need help, Emma? Should I drop you?" he asked, his voice calm but with an underlying sharpness as he glanced at Reed.
Both Reed and David stood on either side of her, two hot and charming men who couldn’t be more different but equally intense. She felt the tension rise as she cleared her throat awkwardly.
"I..." she began, trying to figure out how to handle the situation when James suddenly arrived, full of enthusiasm. "Bella, come on, let’s go!" he said with a bright grin, clearly oblivious to the charged atmosphere.
All three turned to look at him—Reed with seething anger, David with a hint of surprise and mild disappointment, and Emma with an amused smile.
James, catching Reed’s furious expression, instantly became uneasy but tried to keep up his cheerful demeanor.
"Oh, James is here," Emma said quickly, trying to diffuse the tension. "Um, Sir, this is my best friend James. I’ll go along with him, thanks for your help."
She quickly walked over to James, leaving both Reed and David standing there, each parting ways without another word.
