Just as I reached the door, I collided with the Rivetti leader. The shock of our bodies hitting each other sent me stumbling back, and I scrambled to regain my footing.
"Get away from here!" I yelled, pushing against him. "You won't take anything from us!"
But he was bigger and stronger, shoving me aside as he made his way into the house. I could hear the sounds of the battle growing distant, and my brothers were engaged elsewhere.
"You're nothing without your family," he sneered, his voice cold and mocking. "Just a pawn in their game."
Fueled by rage, I fought back. "I am more than you think!" I screamed, shoving him again, adrenaline pumping through my veins.
