CHAPTER 7-Taking off

LUKE'S POV:

Wait. Did i really run away? Did i really left my mom alone? I am the worst son on earth. I guess she's not the mother of the year either. If i'm doing this,i have to do it right. I have to go back and pack my things before he gets home, i have to say goodbye. And find a place to stay tonight. I left in a hurry, i didn't even get my phone. Okay. First i have to make a plan. i go there, pack my things, say goodbye and try to find what to do next .

AT HOME

I am here. i pack my things quickly. I get a big bag, like the ones hikers take with them. i put some clothes, money,books,my phone,my laptop,my charger, a flashlight,a credit card and a map. i take my school bag too. Tomorrow will be probably my last day in school. i check in case i forgot something. i write a note,more like an essay. i apologize to my mom for not  being there for her and that i can't take this anymore. i give her some advice. i tell her to go to rehab. she can still live her life. I will head to LA. Another boy trying to make his dreams to come true.but that doesn't refers to me. I'm just trying to escape. I just want a better life. A better me.
I put my letter on the table and wrote for mom on the front. I know she will find it here. As i open the door i look behind for the last time. I take a deep breath and close the door behind me. My lips are moving forming only one word. Goodbye.

I was wondering on the streets for hours. I don't really know where to go. I don't want go to my friends because they will figure it out and i want to say goodbye to them tomorrow. I guess today the street is my home. I will find a bench or an abandoned building or something and sleep there. I try to find a bench somewhere remoted so that no one could find me. I'm sure my mom won't worry about me she will understand and be happy for me that i escaped. And as for Ronnie i doubt he even realize i'm missing. He won't even bother to fill a missing person report. He will just think that i overreacted and come back tomorrow. But that's not the case. I just hope he doesn't find that letter that i wrote to my mom.
As i settle down on my bench always facing the stars thinking about the future, i hear laughs. At first i don't really pay much attention but then i hear a familiar voice. I lean closer so that i recognize the face but i can't make it out in the dark. But she does.
"Luke is that you?" It's Vanessa. What a coincidence and what on earth is she doing in this part of the town.
"Y-yeah...it's me" i feel a little embarrassed. She must be thinking that i am homeless or something.
"What happened? What are you doing here?" She seemed surprised. Maybe she knows that i have a home and not pretending to have one.
"It's a big story!" I stated
There's someone with her and i don't want everyone to know my problems.
"It's okay. I'll take a taxi,thanks. I'll see you tomorrow.Bye." She said smiling to the guy next to her and he leaves.
"What are you doing here?" I ask her.
"Oh there's a mew club near by and Trip and I were just checking out. It's a bit overrated. The music is lame and didn't see anyone good looking there either. What about you?"
"As i said it's a long story." I try not tell her about my issues and avoiding her gaze. I just turned around,laid down and my eyes were focused now on the stars.
"Okay don't tell me about it. But if you want a place to stay you can come to stay at my place. My parents are on a business trip so i have the whole house to myself. It's lonely anyway" she suggested playfully.
"Oh no. I wouldn't... You don't have to do that for me. I'm okay."
" oh come on it's just for one night and it's freezing out here. You could catch a cold." She insisted.
"Oh i don't know. It doesn't feel right..."
"None senses. I just want you to take me safely home and sleep on the couch . Not a big deal,right?"
"Okay. Only because i don't want anything happening to you. These streets aren't for a lady like you." I packed my things and stood up.
"Safety first." She winked at me.
A taxi stopped and we got in. She told the driver her address and he began to drive.
"So what's the deal with Trip? Is he your boyfriend or something?" I asked her.
"Trip? Oh no no. He's just a friend. I have given up the idea of a boyfriend long ago."
"But why? What happened?"curiosity hit me. She sounded sad,i think she must have been hurt.
"It's a long story." She forced a smile. Clearly she doesn't want to talk about it and i respect that because she respected my decision too.
"Here we are. Please stop right there. Thank you" she paid the driver and we got out of the cab.
The house is huge and empty. I wouldn't be surprised if she had something dirty in mind but i'm not in the mood.
She opened the door and gave me a little tour of the house.
"There's the kitchen and if you want to take a shower there's the bathroom and we have one upstairs too." She said playfully. Gosh she never loses her confidence,does she?
"No thanks. I'm good."
"Okay.here.come i'll show you your room."she gestured to her direction.upstairs.
"My room? I thought i was sleeping on the sofa."
"Oh no of course not. You're sleeping in the guest room"
" you have a guest room?"
"Yeah.Sometimes my dad's business friends are here or just friends so they have a place to stay. The guest room."
"Of course!"
" come on,it's the first door on your left at the end of the hallway. If you need anything just knock the door on your right. It's my bedroom." Well that is convenient, isn't it?
We go upstairs and go to "my room". Here i can't see the stars. At least i can sleep like a normal person. Thank god i found Vanessa or she found me. Anyway this will be a long night for everyone.
