After the events that followed in Pristella, Subaru had his name consumed by the Archbishop of Gluttony, causing everyone to forget him and accuse him of being the Archbishop of Pride. Even when he claimed he was not part of it, no one believed him, and he was imprisoned and tortured without any compassion by those he once called friends. He begged for help, only to be abandoned by his supposed beloved and by the one he pulled from solitude. Everyone he had helped turned their backs on him, uttering words that deeply hurt him. After two years of constant torture and humiliation, especially from Julius, who was his main torturer, along with Félix, who abused him both psychologically and sexually, Subaru could no longer express any feelings or ask for help or even say a single word. His eyes had lost all life; he had given up all hope that someone would remember him one day.

The only thing that still brought him some joy amidst all this was when he fell asleep and could meet Satella. At first, it was challenging because Subaru blamed her for everything that had ended up this way, for what he was going through. However, over time, he accepted Satella's presence. Even though she didn't say much, he felt a connection with her that he couldn't explain, and he knew he loved having her around. This made Satella happy, but she felt sad that she couldn't help her beloved and save him from that torment.

One day, Subaru was surprised that he didn't have the "visit" from Julius and Félix, but he wouldn't complain. So he fell asleep, hoping to meet Satella. However, when he opened his eyes again, he found himself in a dark room with a kind of ocean beneath his feet. When he was about to say something, he heard a voice say:

- "It seems that the time has finally come." Subaru turned toward the voice and saw a tall man whose appearance strangely resembled his, only he seemed a bit older. The man had pointed ears, long hair, and green horns on his head, and beside him was a kind of water nymph. This left Subaru confused, as he didn't understand what was happening. Wanting to understand, Subaru asked:

- "Who are you? And why do you look so much like me?" The man approached Subaru and, seeing his state, felt a certain pity for what the boy might be going through. He then created two armchairs made of water and said:

- "Sit down, and I will explain everything and answer all your questions." The man sat in one of the chairs and pointed to the other, indicating for Subaru to sit. Curiously, Subaru decided to do as the man asked. Seeing Subaru's curious gaze, the man continued: "First of all, my name is Flugel; you may know me as the great sage, the father of magic, among other titles." He noticed Subaru's eyes widen in surprise at being in the presence of the sage. But with this information came millions of questions, such as: why would the sage want to talk to him? Why did the sage resemble him? And why the hell was that place so nostalgic? Seeing Subaru's confusion, Flugel said, "Calm down, boy. As I said, I will answer all your questions, but first, I want you to show me your story." He created a sphere of water and asked Subaru to touch it. Although he found it somewhat strange, he obeyed, and when he touched the sphere, his memories were transmitted, and Flugel watched with great attention, eager to understand how Subaru ended up in that state.

Meanwhile, we see Subaru's "friends" fighting against the cult in front of a huge tower with a girl who had green eyes with three additional red dots around the pupil and long dark brown hair. She was helping others in the fight against the cult and the Archbishop of Gluttony. After a hard-fought battle, they managed to defeat the cultists and kill the Archbishop. Everyone celebrated because finally, Crush and Rem could recover, and they could finally put an end to the cultist they had captured. Upon re-entering the tower, they saw that Rem had woken up, which made everyone happy, especially Ram, who hugged her sister while shedding tears. This left Subaru confused. Ram explained everything that had happened, which surprised Rem but made her happy that everything had been resolved. However, she realized something was missing and began looking around the room as if searching for someone. This left the others confused, and with a worried look, Ram asked:
