Arc 01: The Sage 04: The Witch and the Sage Part 01

After what Volcanica said, an enormous silence reigned in the room, as the information that the strongest possible witch was planning an attack on the kingdom was terrifying. However, they were grateful to the heavens for having the dragon and the redhead to protect them, as they believed that with the two together, Pandora wouldn't stand a chance. Seeing this, Volcanica sighed because, although she knew she could be more powerful than Pandora, the witch's authority was a huge problem-especially if Pandora was angry, which was highly likely. Realizing she had to buy time until Subaru woke up, as she knew he was the only one who could stop the albino, she also acknowledged that in those six days, it was unlikely he'd remember everything. But if absolutely necessary, she would have to wake him earlier. The situation was already stressful, and Pandora hadn't even arrived yet. Emilia, who harbored a deep hatred for Pandora, then asked Volcanica.

- Volcanica-sama, why does that wretched woman want to attack the kingdom now? Does she have something against Subaru?.

Emilia asked, knowing that the answer would be problematic for everyone. Volcanica knew she couldn't hide this information and, with a tired look, knowing the headache that would follow, the dragon sighed and said:

- That brat is coming after Subaru because, when he was still Flugel, he adopted Pandora as his younger sister.

She said, watching everyone's shocked reactions. Those closest to Subaru wondered if, when he recovered his memories, he would side with the albino. Others thought about simply handing him over to her. Noticing everyone's expressions, Volcanica sighed and said. - I know you all have many questions, and I will answer them, but what you need to know is that Subaru is the only one who can stop Pandora.

She spoke seriously, leaving everyone worried, as Subaru was unconscious, and there was no sign of when he would wake up. Reinhard, concerned about the chaos this could cause, asked:

- If Subaru is the only one who can stop her, what will we do? Since he's still asleep and you said it's unlikely he'll wake up anytime soon.

He spoke with a worried expression, as did the others. The dragon closed her eyes, sighed, wishing everything could be resolved quickly, and then, with a serene look, Volcanica said:

- There's a way to wake him for a short period, but we can only use it when Pandora is here, as it will keep him awake for a maximum of five minutes.

She spoke, seeing the disbelief on everyone's faces that Subaru could stop the attack in just five minutes. Volcanica, with a serious look, said that five minutes would be more than enough.

The meeting then continued with a different topic, as with an imminent attack, they needed to plan measures to avoid as many deaths as possible. After the meeting, Rem, accompanied by Shaula and Undine, was taken to the room where Subaru was resting. When the blue-haired girl saw her beloved hero, her heart tightened seeing him in that condition, but she also found him even more handsome in his new appearance. Getting closer, Rem stroked his hair, and seeing the interaction between them, Shaula wondered how the blue-haired girl would feel knowing that she had killed the one she claimed to love multiple times. But Shaula decided to save that revelation for after the problem with Pandora was resolved. Rem, still focused on Subaru, asked Shaula if she could share some stories about how Subaru was when he was Flugel. Hearing the question, Shaula smiled broadly and told many stories of moments with him and some of the feats he had accomplished, which left Rem in awe.

Back in Subaru's mind, we could see Flugel and Pandora together, two weeks having passed since Pandora's attack. They were walking through the streets together while shopping, and the sage noticed the judgmental looks everyone gave Pandora. This made him consider leaving that kingdom so she could live in peace. One day, Flugel was summoned by the king of the kingdom, and upon arriving at the royal hall, he saw several nobles gathered, none of them looking pleased. Curious about the matter, he asked:

- Your Majesty, why did you call me? Is there a mission for me?.

He asked with a serious expression, as he already had an idea of the topic. The nobles began murmuring among themselves, which made the sage a bit uncomfortable. The king, not wanting to drag things out, said:

- Flugel, I want you to take that girl out of my kingdom. She is a danger to the realm, and I want you to get rid of her.

He spoke seriously. Flugel sighed, finding the order ridiculous and not intending to follow it. Disappointed, he said:

- I will not do that. Pandora is just a child who doesn't know how to control herself, and I will not turn my back on her. If you expel her, I will leave with her without a second thought.

He spoke seriously, emanating a bit of his aura, which frightened some of those present. The king tried to persuade the sage to reconsider, but Flugel left the room before the king could say anything more. When he returned home, he saw that Pandora seemed worried, so he asked:

- Did something happen, Pan?" He asked, concerned that something had happened while he was away. Pandora, upon seeing him, ran to him and hugged him with a sad expression, saying:

- I know you asked me to stay here, but I was curious, so I followed you and heard the whole conversation.

She spoke sadly as she hugged him. Flugel explained to her that he would not follow that foolish order, and if necessary, he would leave with her to a faraway place. Hearing these words, the little Witch knew she had finally found what she had always sought-a family. Flugel, realizing it would indeed be necessary if he wanted to protect her, looked at her and said:

- Pan, pack your things. We're leaving, and we'll find a place where we can live in peace.

He said, stroking her hair. Pandora, hesitating a bit, agreed. The two packed their respective belongings, with Flugel taking some things that would help on the journey and Pandora gathering the items the sage had given her.

After everything was packed, they decided they would leave the next day and start anew elsewhere. The Sage felt a certain sadness about leaving the kingdom, but even before meeting Pandora, he had felt trapped in that place. Now, finally free and able to enjoy his freedom with his new family, he was ready. After dinner, Flugel and Pandora spent a long time discussing how this fresh start would be. The sage explained that, at first, they needed to find a place to settle, and from there, only time would tell. Pandora liked the plan, as she believed that as long as they stayed together, everything would work out. The rest didn't matter to her. After talking a bit more, they both went to sleep, and the next morning, after breakfast, they decided it was time to leave. The sage transformed into his full dragon form, and Pandora climbed onto his back. Together, they set off into the unknown, ready to face whatever came their way.
