Initial Notes:

Welcome, dear readers!

For those who are about to get in the 67 Impala and hit the road with me in this story, I have some important considerations to make. The first of them is that this story is the remaster of the first version that I created in (amazingly) 2020, which means I've been working on it for a long time. The second consideration is that there are some changed facts in this story, so I divided them into sections:

I – Jessica never existed in my version of the story, okay?

II – This is the continuation of my prequel "The Girl Who Was Left Behind", but you don't need to have read it to understand this one (because I think prequels gain interest only after we read the "main" story, so to speak.). The prequel is temporarily unavailable as I'm adjusting its grammar. I don't know when it'll be back on air, but it'll be back ♥

III – Dates will be changed to fit the plot. Here in my fanfic, everything that happened between the first and sixth seasons took place between the years 2001 and 2006. This change is due to the fact that this story has a prequel that took place between the years 1999, 2000 and 2001, so I needed the dates to be those.

IV – The soulless Sam in my fanfic is TOTALLY different from the one in the series, and this will be explained more throughout the chapters, so let go of the series in this specific regard.

V – The fanfic will be LONG. And I LOVE writing, so my chapters don't tend to be short, so...just hop in the Impala for this journey if you're not too lazy to read, okay? ♥

VI – This "Before X Now" chapter model only happens at the beginning, to give you context about what happened for the characters to end up where they are, so the "now" will make sense ♥

VII – Don't you forget I'm Brazilian! Which means English is not my first language. I'll do my best, but I'll eventually make mistakes. If you spot one, let me know so I can correct it!

And finally, here is my most important consideration of all:

I dedicate this work to every Supernatural fan who, like me, loves this universe with all their heart. This story is for you, hunters.

Come away with innocence (...)
And leave me with my sins (...)

It took the death of hope to let you go (...) – Snuff, Slipknot.

Sam Winchester's point of view,

— Before —

October 2001, Lawrence.

When I feel the violence of the flames on my retina, I'm sure I don't have much of a chance of leaving this house alive.

But that doesn't matter. The girl I love is inside, and nothing would stop me from trying to save her.

Hazel. Her name keeps shining in red in my mind, with an overwhelming urgency. I feel like there is something evil happening...I feel like my life is going to change forever.

It's more of a certainty than a feeling.

I punch the glass of the door, which shatters and tears my skin into some thick lines of blood, and I manage to turn the handle from the inside. The fire is engulfing the upstairs, so the downstairs is cloudy and covered in dark smoke. I cover my mouth with my arm to cough, and head towards the bottom of the stairs.

I stagger as soon as I see a dead body.

Hazel's mother is dead.

She is lying on the first step, with one arm outstretched and rigid as if trying to reach something, and the shine of the huge kitchen knife embedded in her back contrasts with the screaming red of her blood.
