Season 1 Episode 5: The Rhodes Not Taken

Victoria was in the choir room for glee club practice. She was next to Mike as they watched her sister and Finn sing lead on 'Don't Stop Believin' by Journey. It was going well until Quinn ran out of the room, looking like she was going to get sick. "Quinn, you okay?" Mr. Schue asked as she left the room. "I think she just had a bad breakfast burrito." Finn stammers out. Victoria looks at him with concerned. She could tell he was lying. "Can we please talk about the elephant in the room?" Kurt asked Mr. Schue. "Your sexuality?" Santana sarcastically asked. Victoria jabs Santana in the side. "Ow." Santana said quietly. "Rachel. We can't do it without her." Kurt tells them. "That's not true. We may have to layer Santana or Mercedes over Quinn's solo, but we'll be fine." Mr. Schue explained to them. "Maybe for invitationals, not for sectionals. Certainly not for regionals." Artie said to him. "Wheelchair kid's right. Rachel makes me wanna light myself on fire, but she can sing." Puck said. "Rachel left, guys. She's gone. If we're gonna make this thing work, we can't look back. Alright, take five guys." Mr. Schue said to them. Victoria watches as Finn goes to talk to Mr. Schue and was concerned. Mike and Matt look over at her. "You okay, Tori?" Mike asked her softly. Victoria nodded her head. "Just worried about my sister." Victoria said softly. "Quinn will be fine. She's got this. It's probably a bug that's going around the school." Matt tells her softly. Victoria smiles. "That's probably it." Victoria said with a smile.

A couple days later, Victoria was back in the choir room. This time she was sitting next to Mike and Santana. "Guys, I'd like to introduce you to someone very special. This is April Rhodes. She's our newest member." Mr. Schue said to the group. Victoria made a face. "Wait, so old people can join the Glee Club now?" Finn asked him. April looked offended. "Old, huh? You guys look like the word's worst Benetton ad." April asked clearly offended. "Mr. Schuester, this seems like a terrible idea." Victoria said to the director. "April is a great singer. And she never graduated." Mr. Schue tells them while Victoria notices April giving Puck a look and glares at her. "We appreciate what you're trying to do, but she's no Rachel." Mercedes said to him. "Who's Rachel?" April asked the group. "Sh-She's kind of our star." Tina stutters out. "Your star, eh? Where is she?" April asked them. "She left. To be the lead in Cabaret." Kurt said to her. Victoria watches as April takes her jacket off. "Hey, Tinkles, give me 'Maybe This Time' in B-Flat. And don't let me catch you snoozing." April said to Brad, the piano man. She then begins to sing the song. Victoria's jaw dropped at how amazing her voice was. "Stick that in your pipe and smoke it." April said once she was done.

A couple days later, Victoria was at the local bowling alley with Mike. She was currently dressed in a light blue sweater, black leggings, and light make up. "So, why did you ask me to come to the bowling alley?" Victoria asked him as they laced their shoes up. "Well, I figured we could do something. You're always either with your sister, or Santana, I thought we could do something with just us two." Mike said softly to her. Victoria smiles. "Lucky for you, I love bowling." Victoria said to him with a bright smile. "I know." Mike said, causing Victoria to blush. They began to bowl and Victoria notices Finn and Rachel there, which made her confused. "Finn's here." Victoria said to Mike. The latter looks over and sees the two. "Huh. Isn't Finn dating your sister?" Mike asked confused. Victoria nodded. "Yea.. He shouldn't be here with someone else." Victoria said quietly. "Let's keep an eye on them, okay?" Mike said as he tries to reassure the Fabray girl. Victoria smiles softly. "Okay. I'm so gonna kick your ass in bowling." Victoria smirks. Mike smirks back. "We'll see about that." Mike said as he goes to bowl first.

Victoria smiles as the two finish bowling. "I have to admit, you're a good bowler." She said to Mike. The latter shoots her a smile. "You are too! I was surprised." Mike said as they ate some pizza. Victoria glances over at Finn and Rachel, who were also eating pizza. "They seem to be just friends, right?" Victoria asked Mike, who glanced over at Finn and Rachel. "Yeah, it's harmless." Mike agrees with her. They continue to watch the two of them as they also talked. Victoria's eyes widened when she sees the two kiss. "Hell no." Victoria begins to stand up. Mike got up with her. "Tori, calm down. We can't let them know we were watching them." Mike said softly as he placed his hand on her arm. Victoria calms down. "You're right." Victoria said softly as she looks at him. Mike smiles softly at her.

A few days later, Victoria was in the choir room as she stands with Santana and Brittany. She can hear Kurt, Artie, Tina, and Mercedes talking about her sister. She then hears Puck. "Are you all that stupid? Seriously. I bet you thought Bert and Ernie were just roommates. Maybe Quinn's got one in the oven." Puck said to the four as Brittany, Santana, and Victoria listen. "Who's the baby daddy?" Mercedes asked him. "Who do you think? Finn." Puck asked as Kurt gasps. The door opened and they see Rachel coming in. "Yes, you've heard right. I am returning to Glee Club. In lieu of flowers, please send all donations to a socially conscious charity of your choice." Rachel said as she stands next to Puck. Victoria glares at the girl. "This is a hot damn mess." Mercedes said to Kurt. "Oh, my god." Santana said to her two best friends. "I'm sorry. I thought I'd be welcomed back with a tad more enthusiasm." Rachel said to them. "Sorry. Glee Club has just been rocked with its first scandal." Kurt tells her. "Quinn's knocked up." Mercedes said as Victoria glares at everyone. "And the baby daddy? Finn." Victoria smirked at her.

A few days later, it was the night of the invitational. Victoria was wearing the outfit and had her hair curled. Mike came up to her. "You look amazing, Tori." Mike compliments her. Victoria blushes softly. "Thank you, Mike. You look handsome." Victoria complimented him. Mike smiles at her. They go out to the stage and perform.

In the choir room, the group gets ready for the second number. "They loved us! We're a hit!" Artie tells Mr. Schue as he high fives him. "Wh-where's April?" Tina asked him. "You were right, Mr. Schue. She'd massacre Mariah in a diva-off." Kurt tells him as Victoria and Santana laugh. "April is amazing. But she's not in the Glee Club anymore. I, uh... I screwed up bringing her here. It was about me and the Glee Club is supposed to be about you guys. You don't need her to be great." Mr. Schue tells them. "But we need her for the second act." Mercedes tells him. "I guess I have to go out them and tell them we had to cut the show short. Hey, guys, you were great! Don't worry. There will be other performances." Mr. Schue tells them. Victoria notices Rachel behind him. "Excuse me. I think I might have a solution. In show business, when a star can't perform, her understudy steps in. I'd be happy to fill in for April. If you let me." Rachel tells them. "Since when are you willing to be an understudy?" Victoria asked the girl. "Since I quit the play. "Really? Why?" Kurt asked her. "I realized being a star didn't make me feel as special as being your friend. If I'd let you down when you needed me the most, I'd never forgive myself. I know all the words to the song." Rachel tells them. "You don't know the choreography." Quinn tells her as Victoria smirked. "We're gonna have to give her a lot of help." Finn tells the group. Victoria glares at Finn. "Go get in your costume." Mr. Schue tells Rachel. Victoria glares after Rachel. "Calm down. Focus on the song." Mike whispers to Victoria softly. Victoria calms down and smiles at him.

Victoria and Mike share a smile after the last note. Santana looks at the two with a frown.
