The wind howled outside Arendelle's castle, but within its walls, all was warm and cozy. It was a night unlike any other, though the storm brewing outside was nothing compared to the one that was about to unfold within.
Queen Elsa, known for her composed demeanor and unparalleled control, was now facing an entirely new challenge—one that no amount of magic could prepare her for...
She was about to give birth to her and Kristoff's first child.
She paced the grand bedroom that had been transformed into a birthing chamber, the tension in her belly growing more intense with each passing moment. She had handled the responsibility of being queen with grace and had faced unimaginable dangers with courage, but now, with her body trembling under the waves of labor, she felt vulnerable in a way she had never known.
Kristoff was by Elsa's side every step of the way, his brow furrowed with concern as he watched her breathe through the contractions. His large, calloused hand rested gently on her back, offering what comfort he could. Though Elsa had faced danger before, the sight of her in pain made his heart ache and shatter into a million pieces.
"You're doing amazing, snowflake," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion.
"I'm here with you. You're almost there."
Elsa's breath came in sharp gasps as another contraction rolled through her body, and she squeezed Kristoff's hand with all the strength she had. The pain was unlike anything she had ever felt before, but she refused to let it consume her. She was the Snow Queen, after all—she could handle this.
"I-I can do this," she whispered to herself, though the words were more for her own reassurance than anyone else's.
Kristoff leaned down, brushing his lips against Elsa's temple.
"Of course you can. You're one of the strongest people I know," he said, his voice full of unwavering belief in her.
The royal healer, Eira, an older woman with kind eyes and gentle hands, moved closer, offering words of guidance.
"Breathe, Your Majesty. Focus on the rhythm of your breathing. You've already come so far. You're doing amazing, just breathe."
Elsa nodded, closing her eyes and trying to focus on the steady in-and-out pattern of her breathing. She could feel the pressure building again, the tightening in her belly signaling that the time was drawing near. Her magic pulsed faintly beneath her skin, but she had it under control. She wouldn't allow her fear or pain to unleash her powers. This was one moment where she needed to rely entirely on her strength as a woman, not as the Snow Queen.
Kristoff squeezed Elsa's hand again as another contraction hit, his heart racing in sync with her labored breathing. He wished there was more he could do, but all he could offer was his presence, his love, and his support. He had never seen Elsa like this—so raw, so vulnerable—and he realized right there and then that he was truly in love with her, more than ever before, if that was even possible.
"I love you, Elsa," he whispered softly, his voice thick with emotion.
"You're going to bring our daughter into the world, and she's going to be just as amazing as you."
Elsa managed a small, tired smile between the waves of pain. The thought of their daughter, the little life she had carried within her for the past nine months, gave her strength. She had waited so long to meet her baby, to hold her in her arms. And now, that moment was almost here.
"It's time, Your Majesty. You're ready to push."
The healer's voice broke through Elsa's thoughts.
This is it.
