Things seemed to die down, no one could find me at Vincent's Villa and they knew better than to approach Veronica. It was peaceful but I knew there was always a storm brewing. My mother was never one to let any sort of slight go without repercussions.

I made the mistake of going out after a couple weeks of silence and was publicly berated by my mother. I'm not sure if she was just lying in wait or the universe felt I was too happy but she caught me as I was waiting for Veronica at a cafe and made a scene.

Everything seemed pleasant as I sat with my iced Mocha latte, waiting patiently for Veronica to finish with an A-list client. We were going to go to a new gallery opening that Vincent got us tickets for. It was exclusive and quiet so Veronica could rub elbows with other socialites and I could enjoy art it was going to be perfect but as I sat quietly on my phone my mother seemingly came out of nowhere and began shrieking at me. Her words were almost unintelligible as she spit her anger at me. I could only catch a few words amongst the ear splitting shrieks.

I heard her call me 'ungrateful' and 'vindictive' all while she played out this scenario of me bullying my younger sister after she made a 'slight error' in judgement for the onlookers that began to surround us. She told me all about Nadia's apparent depression and how her life was falling apart due to my 'meddling', she added the cherry on top by telling her it was my job as her big sister to fix everything all while glossing over the fact that Nadia had not only stolen my husband but continued to publicly ridiculed me time and time again.

The spectators of this family drama looked equal parts amused and horrified. Picking sides in the argument they had no idea about based on my mother's accounts. I was so stunned silent I hadn't realized V had come to my side until my mother pointed her acrylic painted finger at her and began tearing into her.

"This like flousy is the reason you're being so damn unreasonable! This is exactly why I told your worthless husband to keep her away from you! She fills your head with stupid things and you forget your place!"

Her words stunned even the spectators. Of course she meddled in my life. Even when I moved out I wasn't free from her control. She probably knew all about the affair between Nadia and Jonathan but couldn't admit it. Not when it received so much backlash.

My fists trembled as tears of frustration stung my eyes, before V could retort my mother's beratements I let loose the years of pent up resentment.

"Shut the hell up! You horrid woman! You always chose Nadia over me! I don't understand why you chose to abandon your own daughter for an adopted one but I'm sick of listening to you and your ideals of what I should be! I know who I am! I have a life and it's not to be your puppet, it's not to be Jonathan's house pet, it's not to be Nadia's servant... It's to be happy...i deserve my own happiness mother..."

The rage had subsided, leaving only tears of pain. Passion from being abandoned and constantly ridiculed by those who were supposed to love and protect me.

My mother was so stunned by my outburst I swear a moment of true reflection shined behind her eyes but it quickly was replaced with anger.

"You wretched girl! How dare you say such awful things to your own mother..." Her gaze was cold as she narrowed her eyes at me, making me feel like a child being scolded "I wish I never had given birth to such an ingrate...you're not a daughter worthy of my blood."
