Mingyu trudged into their apartment, dropping his bag onto the floor. Wonwoo, usually welcoming, remained seated on the couch, eyes fixed on his phone.
"Hey," Mingyu said softly, expecting a warm smile.
Instead, Wonwoo grunted, his gaze never wavering.
Mingyu's heart sank. "What's wrong?"
Wonwoo's silence was oppressive, a heavy blanket suffocating Mingyu.
Days passed, the tension between them growing thicker than Seoul's summer haze. Mingyu tried to initiate conversations, but Wonwoo's monosyllabic responses only frustrated him.
One evening, as Mingyu prepared dinner, Wonwoo stormed out of the apartment, leaving Mingyu feeling lost and worried.
What had he done wrong?
As night fell, Mingyu's anxiety escalated. He couldn't concentrate on his music or rehearsals, his mind consumed by the rift between them.
Wonwoo returned hours later, his expression unreadable. Mingyu approached him cautiously.
" Wonwoo, please talk to me. What's going on?"
Wonwoo's eyes flashed, but he remained silent, disappearing into their bedroom.
Mingyu felt like he was drowning in the silence.
The next day, SEVENTEEN's schedule forced Mingyu and Wonwoo to interact. During rehearsals, their usual harmony was replaced with strained movements and avoided eye contact.
Woozi noticed the tension. "What's going on, guys?"
Mingyu hesitated, unsure how to explain the unspoken issue.
Wonwoo intervened, his voice low. "Nothing, hyung. Just personal stuff."
The silence persisted, a chasm between Mingyu and Wonwoo.
One evening, as they sat on the couch, Mingyu's emotions boiled over.
" Wonwoo, I can't take this anymore. Please talk to me."
Wonwoo's gaze finally met Mingyu's, his eyes haunted.
"I thought you knew... I saw you with another guy, laughing and smiling. I felt replaced."
Mingyu's heart ached. "That was just Jun, my friend from the gym. There's nothing between us."
Wonwoo's expression softened.
"I'm sorry, Mingyu. I should've talked to you instead of assuming."
Mingyu wrapped his arms around Wonwoo.
"We should've communicated better. No more silence, okay?"
Wonwoo nodded, burying his face in Mingyu's shoulder.
Their lips met, the silence between them shattered.
