Rickey Grayson walked out of the nearest bathroom  by the corn maze his team, Young Titans, were visiting. This was the first time the group had been able to meet up in a while for something other than a crisis, and he had to cut his visit short. He had even dressed up in a costume, a Discowing suit, which was now in the duffel bag by his side.

He could hear the laughing of his other teammates. Lian's laugh was especially loud. At least they would still be having fun together without him.

While walking out to his car, he turned his phone back on. Apparently, his mom had sent him a text an hour ago. The prince stopped reading it as soon as he saw the word "urgent". His mom labeled almost everything as "urgent", when it really was something that didn't need his immediate attention.

He decided that if he didn't respond, she would eventually learn to use the term more sparingly.

Arriving at his car, a red convertible, he tossed his duffle bag in the back seat with a sigh. Time to go back home and babysit his younger siblings.

That's when he heard the crunch behind him.

Rickey had seen enough horror movies to know that a loud noise coming from an area where you knew no one was, meant you were about to be attacked. Possibly killed as well.

He took the small vial of salt water he stored in his argyle vest and brought it down to the pockets of his slacks. He formed the water into a dagger in his pocket and gripped onto the hilt.

Was he being paranoid? Maybe, but his grandfather was also the Batman.

"Who's there?" he asked, the slight tremor in his hands being the only thing giving away his nervousness.

There was nothing out of place. Absolutely nothing was wrong. The only movement came from stalks of corn swaying in the wind and lights flickering inside jack-o-lanterns. No one was anywhere nearby. Lian's loud laughing from somewhere in the sea of corn was the only evidence that he wasn't completely isolated.

Then, a small hiss from behind made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up.

"Hello little boy."

Rickey's body reacted before his own brain did. In half a second, the salt water dagger was out of his pocket and was at his follower's neck. If the voice belonged to the man he thought it was, the dagger would do little to nothing.

The neck wasn't there.

"Ooh, we're feeling a little feisty, aren't we?" The voice continued.

The attacker stepped into the light from the streetlamp and sneered. His skin was pale, so pale that the light reflected off his skin, appearing to make him glow in an unearthly sheen. His hair was a stark contrast, black and dark as a void. It matched the black leather jacket he was wearing.

Rickey knew without a doubt that the man standing in front of him was known as the Music Maestro to the rest of the world, but to Rickey's mother he was her first love: a man named Johnny Alto. The same man that was turned into a vampire trying to protect her.

In a second, Johnny was behind Rickey. He grabbed onto the prince's left arm, grinning as they both heard a snap. He laughed at the cry of pain escaping from the teen's mouth.

With his other arm, Johnny popped out a pocket knife and started to drag it along his hostage's arm, licking Rickey's blue blood off the blade. He made a satisfied humming noise. The two watched as some droplets fell to the ground.

"You and I are going to have so much fun," Johnny whispered, directly into Rickey's ear.

Rickey tried to strike his attacker with the blade, but his movements were slow and predictable. Johnny simply grabbed his wrist and forced him to drop the weapon, which lost its shape and turned into a puddle of salt water on the dry ground.

With a snap of Johnny's fingers, the two vanished into thin air.
