After finishing brewing the coffee and preparing a simple egg dish, I finally sit down at the kitchen table, letting out a sigh. The warmth of the mug in my hands feels comforting. It's still early, and the light filtering through the window gives the room a soft, golden glow. Eevee is already at its usual spot by the window, chomping down on its food. That area seems to be its favorite place. It's kind of funny how it always claims that little corner like it owns it.
I glance over at Eevee, watching it for a moment as I sip my coffee. Yesterday's events still play in my mind. I can't help but grin, thinking about how we took down that group of bully and the Zangoose. Those arrogant things thought they could get the best of us, but Eevee and I gave them a taste of reality. Okay, maybe we went a little overboard when we knocked the zangoose into the lake... but hey, it was asking for it! Who just taunts like that, acting all tough until they get dunked in water? Serves them right.
Though, what really caught me off guard was Eevee. I didn't expect it to listen to me the way it did. After all, our first meeting didn't exactly scream "partnership." That little punk spat on me the moment I tried to introduce myself! I figured it'd take ages for Eevee to actually take me seriously, if it ever did at all. But yesterday... I don't know. It was like something clicked. The way it responded to my commands, the way it fought—there was this strange unspoken connection between us. Like for the first time, we weren't just two individuals stuck together by circumstance, but a team.
I smile to myself, glancing at Eevee again. "You did good yesterday," I say aloud, not really expecting a response. It stops mid-bite and turns its head to look at me, its eyes narrowing slightly. For a brief second, I think maybe it appreciates the praise. Maybe this is the moment where we start getting along for real.
And then it spits—this time, not at me, but out the window, like it's disgusted by the very idea of being praised.
I shake my head. "You little bastard." Eevee goes right back to eating, completely unfazed by me or the world around it.
Figures.
As I take another sip of coffee, I casually glance at my PokéNav, scrolling through the usual updates from the student channels. There's always something happening, but most of it is just chatter about classes, events, and whatever drama is unfolding among the academy's students. However, today's top post catches my eye—and I freeze.
It's a picture. Of Eevee. My Eevee. And right beside it, the Zangooses from yesterday. The photo captures the exact moment Eevee, with this wicked, almost smug grin, was holding Zangoose under the water. The way it's framed... it looks bad. Really bad. And of course, the caption doesn't do me any favors either:
"Trainer commands Eevee to drown innocent Zangoose! Is this the kind of behavior we tolerate at Celestia Academy?"
I groan, leaning back in my chair and rubbing my temples. "Innocent Zangoose"? Seriously? They've completely flipped the narrative, making it sound like I'm some kind of villain, ordering my Eevee to torture these poor creatures for fun. Yeah, I did tell Eevee to knock that one into the river, but only after they started trying to gang up on me! TheZangooses and their trainer had been picking on me, acting all high and mighty like they were untouchable. And let's not forget that the moment things turned around, the trainer was the first to start crying like a little wuss.
It's not like I wanted things to escalate, but come on. A guy can only take so much before he snaps, right? Eevee was just doing what it does best—being a little savage when the situation called for it.
I scroll through the comments, most of them split between people who find the whole thing hilarious and others who are outraged. Some are even calling for the academy to take action against me for "trainer misconduct." Oh, great. Just what I needed before my first day at Celestia Academy. I sigh, knowing this drama is going to follow me for a while. At least Eevee doesn't seem to care about the gossip; it's still happily munching away by the window.
