Prologue ─ Meeting The Raptors

━━━━━ THE SUN SHINED brightly in Atlas Masrani's room. She had spent the past year working at the park with her adoptive father Simon Masrani and her best friend Claire Dearing. There were times when her dad wasn't there but she managed just fine on her own, she had spent the better part of the year working closely with the herbivores in the theme park. She loved acting and while sometimes she missed it, she was happy with her choice to leave it all behind and work at the park.

She would periodically hang out with Easton Hayes, and Owen Grady. Easton preferred to go by East and he mostly worked with the T-Rex in the theme park. Atlas wasn't sure how he could do something like that. The thought of being in the same enclosure as the T-Rex honestly scared her, but she knew that East liked working with the T-Rex. Atlas knew that Owen Grady had worked with the raptors, and that he had a failed date with Claire.

Claire had told her everything that had happened at the date and was honestly shocked. She had seen Owen a few times before because he would sometimes hang out with East but she had never really talked to him. Atlas made it clear to East that she never wanted to be around the T-Rex or the Raptors. But even though it was made clear East was still ignoring her and pushing her to move out of her comfort zone, something Claire had talked to him about.

Atlas knew that East was completely in love with Claire, but couldn't admit it. Claire was of course blinded by work to see that Easton had taken a liking to her. When Owen and Atlas would talk they would joke about it, but would try not to be mean about it. Since working at Jurassic World, she felt that her life has started to become normal again. It had been so long since it felt normal and she felt as though she finally fitted in somewhere.

The brunette leaned up in her bed looking towards the outside, she liked to sleep with the door open so she could hear the dinosaurs that were nearby. Atlas threw her covers off of her and turned slightly, placing her feet on the floor. She stood up and walked over to the bathroom and proceeded to get ready for the day ahead of her. She told Claire that she would watch over her nephews when they arrived tomorrow.

So she had to make sure the herbivore's were all good, that would be the first thing she would be checking on in the morning as she could not do it the following day. After she was done she would be meeting up with East and Owen. She was going to meet the raptors that Owen had been working with for a few years now. She was still iffy about meeting the raptors but she knew that she would be safe.

When Atlas was done getting ready, she pulled her hair back into a ponytail so it would be out of her way. She grabbed the things she would need for the day, and then left to go check on the dinosaurs. The brunette arrived in the field where most of the herbivores were. She stood up in her jeep and looked around. Somewhere eating the grass, some were eating the leaves in the trees and others were resting or waking up.

From what she saw they were all moving around, she smiled at the dinosaurs sitting back down in her jeep and driving off. She would normally spend more time with them but she already had to meet up with East and Owen and she didn't want to be late. She knew where the raptor enclosure had been but she had never actually seen what it looked like. When she arrived at the enclosure she noticed that Owen was leaning against his motorcycle, clearly waiting for her.

East was nowhere insight which oddly enough confused the woman as he said he would be there. Atlas pulled the jeep to a stop and eventually turned it off. Opening the door she stepped out and looked at Owen, he sent her a brief smile and stood up from leaning against his motorcycle.

"Where's East?" Atlas asked, starting a conversation with the man as she walked towards him.

"He couldn't make it, said he had something to do with the T-Rex." Owen answered, walking towards the steps of the raptor enclosure.

She stopped in her tracks and sighed heavily. "Of course he did. I knew this was coming." She mumbled to herself. East had been trying to set Atlas and Owen up but it just wasn't working for them. Atlas wanted to focus on taking care of the dinosaurs while Owen was the same pretty much. The raptor trainer came to a stop just at the first step, he looked back at Atlas to see her staring at the ground.

"You comin', or are ya gonna stare at the ground?" Owen asked the brown haired woman. She nodded her head and proceeded to walk after Owen. He started climbing up the steps, soon Atlas was following behind him. Atlas placed her hand on the rails as she climbed up the steps, eventually she made it to the top where Owen had been waiting for her. "If you'll follow me, I'll show you my raptors."

Owen proceeded to move up a few more steps. The brunette lowered her head, sighing heavily again. Eventually she was following behind him and climbing up the steps. The two eventually made it onto the walkway, Owen came to a stop in the center and looked at Atlas as she stopped next to him. She looked down to see the four Raptors that Owen had been closely working with.

"Wow, they're so beautiful." Atlas breathed out, amazed by them. "What are their names again?" Oddly enough she had become interested in learning more about the raptors. They would never replace her love of the herbivores, more specifically each of the brontosaurus.

"Well, you've got Charlie, Echo, Delta, and Blue, she's the beta." Owen explained, answering her question, as he pointed at each of the raptors so Atlas had more of an idea which name went to which raptor.

"Who's the alpha?" Atlas asked, as she looked at the man.

"You're looking at him."

"Ah, okay." She breathed out, looking back at the raptors. She noticed Blue look at her, a few low growls rolled out of the raptors mouth. But she stopped as soon as Owen wrapped his arm around Atlas' waist and pulled her closer to him. "What are you doing?" She asked, surprised by his actions.

"I'm showing Blue and the other Raptors that you're not gonna hurt me or them." Atlas nodded her head, now understanding what he was doing. "They can get a little overprotective sometimes and I have to show them that you won't do anything. They need to see that I trust you." She nodded her head, making it clear that she did understand it.
