Running my fingers along the spines of the many books. I was looking for one in
particular, they brought it up in class a while ago. The librarian eyed me suspiciously, people
like me didn’t come into the library on a random Wednesday night, especially one we had off,
unless we were up to something. Her assumptions weren’t wrong, I was up to something.
Finally I found it, Complete Guide of the Gods. I pulled it down, wrinkling my nose and
coughing lightly when the dust fell out of the giant book. I rushed out of the aisle, glancing at
the librarian. She seemed startled at my sudden, quick movement, and watched me with sharp
eyes. I made my way to the corner, sitting in a bay window, settling down.
I immediately opened the table of contents, running my finger down the line of names,
locating the K’s. Kaia, Kali, Kane, Kabir. No Koa. I knew he was lying. Kinda wish he hadn’t
been, now my job is a lot harder. I yawned, finding the glossary and adjusted for the long night
ahead of me.

I sighed, defeated. No luck, on anything. No Koa, no nothing on the green chains. Well
this was a bust.
“You have to go. The library is closing” The librarian looked down at me. I didn’t say
anything, I just walked back to the shelves where I found the book, returning it to its place.
Leaving the library, I could feel the librarian’s eyes on me, but it didn’t bother me. I began to
creep through the halls on instinct. Everytime it got dark, I became as quiet as a rabbit.Making my way through the mostly empty halls, I was making my way up the stairs
when I was startled by a voice.
“No luck? Sad. Maybe you were the wrong choice.” The voice said, smooth and
familiar. I looked around, I was alone.
“That’s right, it's me. I'm not there.” Koa spoke, directly into my mind.
“What do you want?” I whisper.
“Yeesh, I was just checking in.” He seemed offended that I even asked. I didn’t say
anything, and I could feel something stir in the back of my head.
I made my way back into my dorm. Komugi looked up from the seat in front of the
fireplace.
“How are you doing?” She smiles sweetly, closing the book she was reading. I shook my
head, not really wanting to talk or explain how I was feeling, retreating up the stairs to the
sleeping quarters. Kiara wasn’t there, so she was probably out with some of her own friends.
Me and Komugi were both more on the loner side, neither one of us had a close friend.
I sat on my bed, staring out the window, up at the stars, curling up and changing into a
fresh pair of warm fuzzy socks.
