The soft hum of music filled the cozy café, mingling with the sweet scent of pastries and freshly brewed coffee. It was Jeonghan's birthday, and you had been planning this surprise for weeks. He had always been the one to take care of everyone, effortlessly brightening your days with his smile and laughter, and today, it was your turn to do something special for him.
As the door jingled, you glanced at the clock. It was almost 5 PM—time for the surprise. You arranged the last few details: balloons, a small cake with a single candle, and a table adorned with colourful streamers. You had invited a few close friends, hoping to create an intimate yet festive atmosphere.
"Everything looks perfect," you murmured to yourself, adjusting the balloons one last time. Just as you stepped back to admire your handiwork, the door swung open, and a gust of wind swept through the café.
Jeonghan entered, shaking off the cold and brushing his hair back with an endearing smile. Your heart fluttered. He was always effortlessly charming, but today, he looked particularly handsome in a casual beige sweater and jeans.
"Hey, you!" he called out, spotting you near the back of the café. "What are you doing here?"
You grinned, trying to suppress your excitement. "Just enjoying some coffee. Want to join?"
He walked over, his eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Sure! What are you up to?"
"Just... you know, celebrating a special day," you replied, trying to play it cool.
He chuckled, a soft, melodic sound that warmed you from the inside out. "Well, you always know how to make a day special, don't you?"
You felt your cheeks heat up, but before you could respond, the café door swung open again, and your friends began to trickle in. They greeted Jeonghan with cheerful "Happy Birthdays!" while you gestured toward the table you had prepared.
"What's all this?" Jeonghan asked, a hint of disbelief in his voice.
"Surprise!" you shouted, the energy in the café shifting as everyone gathered around the table. Jeonghan's eyes widened in shock and delight as he took in the decorations and the small cake.
"I can't believe you did this!" he exclaimed, a broad smile spreading across his face. "You're the best!"
You laughed, feeling a rush of warmth. "Well, you deserve it. Now, make a wish and blow out the candle!"
As he closed his eyes, you caught a glimpse of the way his features softened, and your heart swelled. You had been harboring feelings for Jeonghan for quite some time, and seeing him happy like this made everything feel right.
He opened his eyes and blew out the candle, and everyone cheered. You clapped along, but your gaze was fixed on him, trying to memorize the way his laughter lit up the room.
"Okay, let's eat!" he said, diving into the cake while your friends chatted animatedly. The atmosphere was lively, filled with joy and laughter.
