The neon lights of the city flickered like the last stars before dawn. Beneath the glimmering skyscrapers, the streets hummed with the muffled symphony of urban life. Yet, in the shadowy corners of this concrete jungle, another world thrived—one defined by power, fear, and unspoken alliances.
You had never expected to be drawn into this world, but fate had a twisted sense of humor. When your father fell into debt with the notorious Kwon Soonyoung, better known as Hoshi, your life had been turned upside down. Now, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a blood-red hue over the city, you stood before the imposing gates of the Boss's mansion.
The gates opened with a metallic groan, revealing a garden that seemed to be plucked from a different era. You followed the ornate cobblestone path towards the grand entrance, every step weighed with a mixture of anxiety and anticipation. A butler with a stern expression greeted you, his eyes betraying no emotion as he led you inside.
The mansion's interior was as opulent as you'd heard—marble floors, golden chandeliers, and art that spoke of wealth beyond imagination. Your guide led you to a set of double doors, each intricately carved with the symbol of a dragon entwined around a sword. He knocked twice, then opened the doors with a smooth, practiced motion.
Inside, the room was dimly lit, casting long shadows across the walls. At the center of it all sat Hoshi, his presence commanding and intense. He was dressed in a tailored suit that accentuated his sharp features and lean physique. His eyes—dark, penetrating, and impossibly magnetic—were fixed on you with an inscrutable expression.
"Miss Y/N," he said, his voice a smooth baritone that seemed to reverberate through the room. "Please, come in."
You stepped inside, trying to maintain your composure despite the pressure of his gaze. "Mr. Hoshi," you replied, your voice steadier than you felt.
Hoshi gestured to a chair opposite his, inviting you to sit. As you took your place, he leaned back in his own, crossing his legs with an air of casual authority. His fingers drummed lightly on the armrest, the only sign of agitation.
"Your father's debts have accrued interest," he began, his tone laced with a dangerous edge. "And as per our agreement, the repayment must be met."
You swallowed, nodding slowly. "I understand. But I need more time. Surely there's something I can do—"
"Time is a luxury I can't afford," Hoshi interrupted smoothly. "However, I'm willing to consider alternative forms of repayment."
You met his gaze, feeling a shiver run down your spine. There was something dangerously enticing about him, a magnetism that both terrified and intrigued you. "What do you have in mind?"
Hoshi's lips curved into a knowing smile. "I need someone who can handle delicate negotiations—someone with... discretion. Your father's debts have not only burdened him but also brought him into conflict with other parties. If you prove yourself useful, we can discuss a new arrangement."
The implications of his words were clear, and you braced yourself for the uncertainty ahead. "I'll do whatever it takes," you said firmly, though inside, a storm of emotions raged.
