"WHAT?" remiah yelled out loud as she was on the phone with regina.

"yes baby, he's out!" regina said excited as she was telling remiah that ezra smith had been released.

"i'm on my way." she said getting out the bathroom in just her towel going towards her closet to get clothes when there was a knock on her door. "i'll see you later, ma." with that remiah hung up looking over at the door as someone knocked again. "who is it?"

"brayden." he said making remiah look over at the door as she had just put on her underwear.

"it's unlocked." she told him as she turned around grabbing some pants to wear when brayden walked in.

"oh- uh sorry." brayden said covering his eyes making remiah laugh at him.

"nigga don't act like you ain't see me naked before." she said now looking for a shirt. "what do you need?"

"i uh i wanted to check on you, make sure you were doing good. i see you're not limping."

"yeah i feel good, happy even. my pops is out of prison, so i gotta go." she said turning around to look at him as she was fully dressed now.

"shit for real? that's great." brayden said as he saw remiah nod with a wide smile as the two walked out of her dorm.

"yeah, but uh thanks for checking on me. i'll see you later." she said before walking away leaving brayden standing there as he watched her leave.

remiah walked into the smith house taking off her shoes before running towards where she heard ezra smith's voice at. as soon as she got into the kitchen she saw her pops laughing with her ma as if they weren't separated between a glass window for five years. remiah smiled wide before walking closer.

"pops!" she yelled wrapping her arms around his neck hugging him making ezra pick her up twirling her around.

"babygirl, oh i've missed you."

"i've missed you too pops, so much." she said as tears ran down her face still holding onto ezra who petted her head holding her tightly.

"it's okay babygirl, i'm home now. don't shed no tears."

"where's uh where's ramiri?" remiah asked as she stepped back looking around the kitchen and at her two parents.

"he said he'll be here soon." regina said before they heard the door open. "there he is."

"pops!" ramiri yelled as he walked into the kitchen seeing the three in there. ezra walked up to ramiri bringing him into a tight hug. "how it feel to be out?"

"it's uh it's something, happy to see and actually be able to hug my family." ezra said as he brung remiah back into a hug kissing her forehead. "now i'm going to cook dinner for my beautiful family."

the four of them were in the kitchen as ezra shared some of the things he did while in prison, and then remiah and ramiri shared memories of things that happened since ezra has been gone. the family were laughing at all the memories going around the table as they started to eat the food ezra cooked them.

"damn pops i've missed this." ramiri said as he took another bite of the food while remiah nodded her head.

"yeah ma still can't cook."

"hey! i'm not that bad."

"ma you evaporated the water for your noodles one time."

as the three talked about regina's cooking over the years ezra looked at every each one of them with a wide smile happy to be home.
