When Aziraphale was still living on Earth, he (as we all know) had a bookshop installed for himself. However this wasn't only his shop but also his home, literally. The upstairs portion of the building consisted of a loft. The loft was small, yet cozy. The loft's ceiling was angled about 60 degrees from the bottom up. The room consisted of a queen-sized bed pushed up against the wall, a nightstand, and of course, a small bookshelf. Azi had made the loft into a bedroom for himself. However, since he had been gone, Crowley had made good use of the space and stayed there. After all, Crowley didn't have anywhere else to stay. Sleeping in his car was an option, but he preferred not to. For the first month after Aziraphale had left Earth, Crowley refused to even go near the bookshop, but eventually, he regained the strength to return, and he has been living there ever since. Crowley did try to make it more 'at home' for himself so he brought a few of his plants into the room. There were a few larger ones on the floor, pushed up against the walls, and a few on the nightstand. The bookshelf consisted of a few books that he owned. Mostly books about astronomy and quite literally anything relevant to the stars. Some of the shelves were dedicated as spots for smaller plants.
Earth: London, England-Aziraphale's bookshop
Present time
Aziraphale walked over to the spiral stairs. He took a breath before proceeding up.
Crowley sat on the edge of the bed with his knees to his chest. His large wings relaxed behind him. Aziraphale stood at the top of the stairs quietly collecting his thoughts before walking over and sitting down next to the serpent. As soon as Crowley had noticed the angel, he turned his head sharply, facing the opposite way as Aziraphale. His eyes turned red and started to burn from the pain of holding back tears, which you wouldn't be able to see anyway due to the dark lenses of his glasses.
"Crowley..." Aziraphale started, attempting to get the demon to face his way.
"Why'd you leave, Angel? Why?" Crowley's muffled voice broke. "Why'd you leave me...to be alone?"
Aziraphale felt a piece of himself break, hearing Crowley in such pain killed him.
"I... I left because I needed to. I had to,"
"It was a choice! You didn't have to do anything!" Crowley snapped.
"I left so I could protect you!" Aziraphale blurted. The room fell silent.
"...what?" There was a soft crack in the demon's voice.
Aziraphale breathed deeply, "The second coming,"
Crowley immediately perked his head up and swiftly turned to face the angel.
"They were planning another apocalypse on Earth in an attempt to start the war between the two sides since we stopped the last one from happening," Aziraphale continued.
"What- We... we could've stopped it again! We did it before..., I see no issue in having to stop it again!" Crowley desperately searched for answers.
"Crowley, even if we did put a stop to it again, Heaven and Hell would eventually track us down. They would do things to us that I can't even dare to think of. Because my position as Supreme Archangel holds great power in Heaven, I can keep you safe from that," Aziraphale looked at Crowley, staring, desperate for forgiveness. "I'm so sorry, dear. I truly am, I just wanted to protect you, I swear. I didn't want to hurt you in any way! I-"
An unexpected reach from the demon cut off the angel. Crowley wrapped his arms around Aziraphale and hugged him, tight. He buried his face in Aziraphale's neck. His dark wings surrounded the two as if they were a protection from the world and nothing could break through to harm the two of them.
This caught Aziraphale off guard completely, but he imeditly fell into the feeling and returned the hug. He had missed Crowley's, unexpectedly, soft touch.
The two stayed like that for a while, both of them unwanting to let go in fear they would never touch again.
Crowley, with his face still buried in Aziraphale, broke the silence with a confession, "I'm sorry angel. I'm really sorry. You left and I got lonely and sad and I became so angry... I was pissed...at you, and with Heaven, and I got so angry at myself... I- fucking hell-, I can't even put it into words, it was awful living without you"
"You have nothing to apologize for. I should be giving the apologies. I left you, and I never gave you a full explanation for my leaving..."Aziraphale took a moment to reflect back to when he had left," good lord, Crowley, I just left you! Dear, you have every right to be angry,"
Crowley tightened his grip in response but eventually backed away, giving him and the angel about a foot of space between each other. His head tilted down and slowly brought itself up to look at Aziraphale. His face was still yet, Aziraphale saw that it showed emotion. A silence fell between the two of them, it wasn't awkward however, it was more of a comforting feeling. The two beings felt a sense of safety with each other and being in each other's presence again gave them that feeling of comfort and safety.
