What I Wouldn't Like Changed

This will be kinda long so tldr at the end in case you don't want to read it all. ★

I don't want the anime to take place during our day. I really hope it sticks during the 90s just like the original. I am a gen Z kid and even though it's not vital to the plot, I think the fact it's part of an older generation makes it that more appealing to me. Also it just wouldn't feel natural for the girls to make modern references or slang. God I hope the dub doesn't rot our ears because I watched both sub and dub for the original and I'll be doing it here too. MKR has one of the best dubs I've listened to. Please don't ruin it guys.

Also there are such cute and charming moments that the anime has. I hope the remake can capture that charm into a modern animation, but a huge part of the original's charm is its dated animation. Every waterfall, blade of grass and strand if hair looks so pretty in the original. It's all a work of art because it looks older. It has such novelty to it that I feel would be hard to replicate but I'm open to new ideas.

I haven't watched any other Clamp work but I'm pretty sure they have their own signature animation style. Hopefully they stick with it as well as the character designs, but it wouldn't be too bad if they tweaked them a bit but just enough that they still stay recognizable to their original counterparts. I love how they design characters.

One of the most important things they must keep at all costs is their excited chibi expressions, scrambling legs, and Hikaru's cat ears when she gets excited. If they don't keep that I'll wither into nothing.

And now the music. I'm gonna yap on this quite a bit ladies and gentlemen so strap in. The original has an amazing orchestrated soundtrack that has my personal favorite ost out of any anime I've ever watched. The fantasy themes and 90s groove just work so well together. I've listened to some of the composer's other works and they're pretty solid as well. The songs are also unique because you can hear people moving and adjusting their instruments in the background playing the music live.

Nearly if not all the music is done physically instead of digitally. The music still holds up pretty well. That being said they can either remaster the music and maybe add a few more tracks, or reuse the old soundtrack and polish it with the advancements we've made in technology and sound.

Now reusing the tracks would be quicker and save time and resources, but it's a rather cheap move that would make the remake feel more like Clamp just ran out of ideas and decided to dig up a classic for money instead of making a faithful and true adaptation of an older work.

I don't think they'll do this because most of this anime's fans are in their 40s and 50s so catching the younger generation's hearts wouldn't really be an easy thing to do especially since everyone's attention span is like 5 seconds tops and most anime fans are just into cool fight scenes and big boobs to look at.

Remaking the entire soundtrack would take more time and money, but I don't think Clamp would be lazy even when remaking an anime that almost nobody even knows about. To remake something as underrated as this, they're not aiming to cop out for money. I think they're going to genuinely put heart and soul into this to make it the faithful adaptation it deserves to be.

Now if they remake the soundtrack physically just like the original that would be godlike dedication that I would respect to the highest order, but digitally would be fine as well. If they do it right, it could possibly be even better than the original. Either way, all three options are perfectly fine because the soundtrack is already really good. Though remaking a truly inspired and passionate soundtrack would be the best option assuming they do it right, which I have no doubt they can.

Even if they don't give the soundtrack a proper remake and just reuse the music, they can't under no circumstances reuse the opening, but they just can't change it either. No no no. This opening is special. I found this anime through the opening and could tell just from the intro it was going to be a true work of art. The opening is the best opening I've ever heard from any anime ever. A Cruel Angel's Thesis? Never heard of it. Unravel? Are you joking? Guren no Yumiya? Don't make me laugh! Gurenge? Now you're just being ridiculous.

No. I'm a metalhead. A metal enthusiast. Metal runs through my veins. I shred the guitar irl too. I even learned how to play the song on guitar by listening. Specifically speaking though my favorite era of metal is 80s. Unyielding Wish, (which is the most 80s name for a song ever) sounds like it came right out of the 80s. It feels very inspired by White Lion as well which White Lion is a childhood favorite of mine. I may be gen Z but I was raised on the classics which is probably why I love more partial to older stuff than newer stuff.

The song is in major and goodness gracious it slaps to the highest degree. Every time I listen to the theme start playing and then see all three standing on the iconic hill looking over the ocean to see Princess Emeraude's castle, my heart literally flutters each time and I love it to death. Despite that, the main thing for me is that they remake the opening instead of reusing it or getting a new intro.

It may not be that iconic or recognized of a show, but this intro is so good, so monumentally lovable that no other opening could top it for their life. A remake could potentially not only get it officially on Spotify, but RichaadEB or Little V could even cover it later in the future for how cosmically hard it slaps. Literally 100% honest, if they don't remake the intro I'll be very upset. Also how the original did the opening too. It doesn't have to be exactly one to one, but at least a recognizably similar recreation of everything in the opening would be stellar.

TLDR: Basically I want a lot to stay the same. I'm probably just worrying too much and it'll be fine. Everything from the art design to the music is still amazing despite being dated.
