Vito waits anxiously for Rocco in Matteo's restaurant after his return from Rome, to tell him in detail what he has discovered.
Rocco, who was coming from the office, arrives quickly to hear what the investigator has to say.
- How are you, Vitor? Did you have a good trip?
Vito stands up and greets him.
- Yes, I did. Thanks Rocco.
They sit down facing each other and start chatting.
- You told me on the phone that the doctor wasn't coming.
- Yes, he has a new Congress this week, in another state.
- But he wouldn't be much help anyway, since you told me he doesn't remember anything from that time.
- Yes, Rocco, this exchange between the twins is surreal for him. He can't believe something like this has happened in the hospital where he used to work.
- What did you think of that, as the experienced investigator that you are?
- So Rocco, he seemed extremely sincere. He even made himself available for any kind of investigation.
- I really must warn you.
- I've told him that you'll summon him to testify when he returns from this Congress.
- We'll certainly do that. After all, he went to the doctor who brought the twins into the world and said that one of them had died.
- He doesn't remember this case very well.
- Nor could he, I hardly know what I ate yesterday. He must have delivered a million babies, and other twins must have died.
- Over all these years, obviously. But he assures me that he'll make an effort to remember something that might help with the case.
- So I have an intuition that this doctor has no involvement whatsoever in the exchange of Antonella and Elisabetta. But it's just an intuition.
As soon as he leaves the kitchen, Matteo goes to his brother and the investigator.
- I'm sorry I didn't come sooner, but Conrad had to be absent and I'm giving some advice in the kitchen.
- If you've finished, sit down with us, Matteo. Because I think we're back to square one.
Matteo then sits down and disagrees with Rocco.
- No, we're not, my brother, because I have something new for you.
- So tell us soon Matteo.
- Romina came to see me yesterday and told me that Rosario had a lover who was paying her off.
- That's normal. A woman who is alone has a lover who helps her.
- Wait Rocco, I haven't finished yet.
