It was May the 5th, a day that spoke about the long fought battles from the late 60's to the 90's. It was on that day, Minerva McGonagall ascended the position of the Head Teacher. After the Battle of Hogwarts, the 98-99 and 99-2000 terms had been cancelled, devoting those two years for renovating the school. The term of 2000 had begun freshly, symbolizing the birth of a New Era, for both the Muggle and Magical Communities. It was the first time in a 1000 years, that Hogwarts had cancelled the terms.
During the Summer of 2024, the residing staff noticed a subtle change in the normally enigmatic and formidable employer. She stared out of the window for hours, muttered Latin words like quod perierat magica. During these moments, the staff noticed a lingering weakness in the Gryffindor Headmistress's eyes, an unsual sight it was.
On the 12th of May, exactly a week after the Memorial Day, Filius Flitwick, the long retired Charms professor, was asked to come to Hogwarts by the Headmistress.
'There is something I want you to do for me- for Hogwarts, Filius.' Minerva started. Flitwick nodded. 'Anything for Hogwarts and her Headmistress, Minerva.' The man replied. 'I have asked two new people to join Hogwarts, this term. I'm afraid I'll only be present for the first few weeks of the term. I need you to take over for some time, my friend. Promise me that.' She seemed desperate. Sensing this, Flitwick agreed. She sighed in relief and took out a letter. 'Give this to anyone of them, after I pa- leave.' He looked at her with a raised brow, but nodded anyway.
Somewhere far from Scotland....
A group of students were practising Offensive Magic. The Master was watching them from the shadows, frequently coming out to correct the students. Suddenly ran in a student, stopping only to give the him the letter. The Master saw the seal and smirked beneath his scarf that hid most of his face. As he read through the letter though, his brows furrowed in confusion. After thinking for a few moments, the Master called for the other master, named Vedha Narayana, who happened to be his senior.
'Vedhanna, please call Emer. There is something the three of us need to talk about.' Without another word, the Master left to a quieter spot. Vedha gave an air call to Emer.
'You called for me?' Emer asked once he joined Vedha and the Master.' Yes.' spoke the Master. 'You know that Schola we are bound to? It has summoned us.' The Master added with a grunt. 'I know. I recieved it too. But there is a strange vibration- a magical vibration- coming from the letter. Like something really malus is going to take place.' Emer voiced. 'Are you going there? If you are, make sure there is no malicious intent directed towards you. Eradicate it in the first step.' Vedha spoke like some conspirator guru. The Master sighed with exhasperation. 'Vedhanna, we are not conspiring anything. Plus, this is the longest break after which she has decided to contact me. I need to go. Something is wrong there.' The Master spoke carefully. 'He would've wanted it.' Emer spoke quitely, with a far away look in his sapphire coloured eyes. 'Pardon? Who is the 'he'?' asked Vedha with a raised brow. 'My father. The Late Severus Snape.' Sighed Emer. Vedha was left with his jaw open. 'That spy guy who was the first one to get an Order of Merlin- First Class posthumously?' He asked for confirmation. 'The very same.' Aswered the Master. 'What about you?' Vedha turned to look at the Master. 'Me? I'm Silas McGonagall. Nephew of Minerva McGonagall.' Shock slowly turned to a sly smile. 'I'm so very proud of you, my dear Vidhyaarthi. A true warrior never shows his identity.' Vedha said. 'Now go. I believe you have a train to catch.'
3 hours later, as they were standing at the station, Vedha turned to the English duo, 'Remember, the doors of the Rajan Institues is always open to you.' 'We'll be back as soon as we can. It's just a family visit.' Emer spoke with a small smile.
Vedha gave a small wave as he watched his dear students leave. He turned and apparated away.
And so began the long, perilious journey of Emeritus Severus Snape and Silas Robert McGonagall.
