'Kaliyah?'
Finally. I grabbed my coffee from the pick up station and quickly went to leave.
'Excuse me ma'am you dropped your purse!' Somebody called. I looked back, a man stood there holding my belongings i'd just dropped without even realising. I was in such a rush i hadn't noticed.
You've got to be joking. As if anything else is going to slow me down, this is ridiculous.
'Thank you.' I say, taking my things and again, quickly heading for the exit.
An elderly couple coming through the door. I huff and step aside so they can come through. Obviously i'm not angry with them, i just cannot stand being late and it seems that the world is against me today.
'Thanks for waiting dear.' The old woman smiled sweetly.
'No problem.' I nodded, before quickly slipping by and out the door, thank goodness.
My phone began to ring in my pocket, i jumbled my stuff around in my hands in attempt to grab it.
I was looking down into my purse, rummaging around the different papers and other junk trying to find my phone. I could hear it, just couldn't see it.
Crash.
If i had a dime for every time something slowed me down this morning, i'd be rich. I was so unaware of my surroundings when trying to find my phone, i had walked straight into somebody.
Coffee was all over the floor, partly on the bottom of my trousers and splattered over my shoes. My phone dropped onto the concrete, face down.
'I am so sorry.'
I sighed angrily and looked up. 'It's okay, i really should've looked where i was going.'
He was a tall boy, light-skin, and perfect white teeth. 'But your phone..' he said, bending down to pick it up along with the empty coffee cup.
'Really, it's fine. Please don't worry.' I said, looking at my phone as he picked it up. The entire front screen was completely shattered.
'There's coffee all over you! Please, at least let me buy you another one.' He smiled slightly.
'Again, please don't worry. I'm in a real rush right now and i'd much rather just get going.' I declined the offer.
'Do you have a lift?' he asked.
'I have to get the train, but if i keep standing here talking to you, i'll miss it.' I sneered.
'Public transport is always awful in Birmingham this time of the morning, i'll give you a lift.' He offered.
'I think i'd know, considering i take it every everyday. Look i really appreciate the offer, but once again, don't worry.' I sarcastically smiled.
'All trains around the city are currently not on time...' he said, looking down at his phone. He had already looked up the trains in the time i took me to say that. 'Looks like you need a lift after all.' He shrugged.
I rolled my eyes. 'It would be helpful.'
'Great. Car's this way.' He smiled as i began following him.
'I didn't get your name?' He asked as i typed my workplace's address into the car.
'Kaliyah. Kaliyah Watson.' I answered. 'You?'
'Jobe. Jobe Bellingham.'
'You play football, right?' I asked. 'Sunderland?'
'That's right.' He nodded and began driving.
'I don't know how i didn't notice sooner. My brother's a massive fan. He supports Birmingham City.' I explained.
'Really, that's cool. I used to love playing there.' He said. 'You into football?'
'Not really. It's mainly my dad and brother who watch it.' I shrugged.
'You should watch with them, it's a great game once you're into it.' He was so concentrated on the road but also on our conversation at the same time.
'Not my thing.' I laughed.
'Anyway, what is it you do for work?' he asked.
'I work for a modelling agency. They have properties all round the world. I've been to a few. Birmingham obviously, New york, Milan, Madrid, London, Paris and Berlin.'
'Wow, sounds like great fun with all that travelling.' he laughed.
'I love it. It's been my dream job since i was 11.'
'That's great you've managed to pursue it then.' He said.
'Yeah. What about you with football, life-long dream come true?' I asked.
'Of course.' Jobe nodded.
'Thank you for the lift Jobe, it was really helpful. I owe it to you.' I smiled. 'And i'm sorry i was so rude earlier, i just hate being late.'
'I sort of gathered that.' He laughed. 'I'm glad i could help you in some sort of way. You're all good for a lift home later on? Trains are a bit of a pain.' He chuckled.
'I'm sure i'll find a solution. One way or another, without a phone.' I shrugged.
'Kaliyah, i can pick you up.'
'Would you mind?' I asked.
'Only because i feel bad for this morning.' He laughed and rolled his eyes sarcastically.
'You're a legend, thank you so much.' I thanked him, grabbing my purse and closing the car door.
I walked into the building and towards the lift. I wanted to message Audrey, my best friend, so badly but obviously with no phone, it won't be possible.
I was a little bit shocked over what had just happened. I just casually got a lift to work from a celebrity, and didn't even realise it was a celebrity, until he told me his name.
Kind of embarassing Kaliyah.
I arrived at my office and immediately got to work, i had loads to catch up on.
