Still in the Ballroom - after the kiss
Love's heart was pounding in her chest, her breathing shallow as she fought to calm her emotions. The intensity of the kiss lingered between them, electrifying the air around them. "Milk..." she began, but the words caught in her throat, her gaze returning to Milk's lips, craving another taste.
Milk's smile deepened, playful but tender, her eyes reflecting a warmth Love wasn't prepared for. "If you want an encore, you know where to find me," she teased, but there was a vulnerability in her voice, a softness that hadn't been there before.
Milk gently ran her finger along the side of Love's mouth. "I smudged your lipstick a little," she said with a smile that demonstrated how unrepentant she was.
Love's heart still pounded from the kiss, she was about to say something, but before the words could leave her mouth, a voice chimed in. "I think congratulations are in order."
Milk and Love turned toward the voice, and standing before them were Dr. Fahlada and her wife, Earn. Milk blinked, momentarily stunned by the sight. Dr. Fahlada looked striking in a sharp black suit, exuding confidence, while Earn wore a peach dress that seemed to glow against her flawless skin. Milk immediately recognized her as the actress from the drama she'd once watched.
"Wow, they look like movie stars," Milk thought, momentarily lost in the beauty of the couple.
Dr. Fahlada smiled, her arm around her wife, and said, "I'm glad to see you're okay, Milk. You look much better since our last encounter." She gestured to Earn. "This is my wife, Earn."
Milk exchanged warm hugs with the couple, her admiration for the doctor and the actress increasing. Love, on the other hand, was genuinely surprised but delighted to see Dr. Fahlada in such a social setting.
"I didn't expect to find you here!" Love said, her tone lighter than the last time they met under far more serious circumstances.
Dr. Fahlada chuckled, "I couldn't miss the birthday party of one of my most frequent clients." She winked at Love, bringing a sense of humor to the occasion.
Love smiled, the tension she had been carrying since the kiss with Milk beginning to ease. Her heart still raced, but Lada's presence had a way of grounding her. "I'm glad you could make it. I wasn't sure if you had the time."
The doctor glanced at Milk, then back at Love with a knowing look. "Well, I'm glad I came. It seems like there's a lot to celebrate tonight."
"Do you mind keeping Milk company while we freshen up?" Dr. Fahlada asked, turning to Earn with a loving glance. Earn, who had been quietly observing the exchange, smiled warmly at Milk
Earn kissed her wife lightly on the cheek. "Of course, darling. I'll keep Milk entertained while you two go gossip."
Love gave Milk a quick peck on the lips, saying, "I'll be right back." She and Dr. Fahlada disappeared into the crowd, leaving Milk and Earn behind.
Love and Dr. Fahlada's Conversation - In the Bathroom
In the bathroom, Dr. Fahlada handed Love a tissue to touch up her lipstick. "I've been waiting for your call," she said, her tone teasing but gentle. "What I told you still stands. You can count on me. Whoever is behind these attacks, you don't have to face them alone."
Love looked at her reflection in the mirror, her expression softening. "I know how much you like to solve things on your own, Love, but you need allies in this," the doctor continued, her concern evident.
Love sighed, grateful for her friend's support. "Thank you, Lada. For everything. For coming to my house when I needed help and for being willing to step in."
