April had been relatively quiet so far. The season was well underway, and we had already played seven matches. Out of those, we managed to win four, draw one, and lose two. Not bad, considering the level of competition. We sat third on the table, just behind Ulsan and Gangwon. It felt like we were in a good position, but we knew there was no room for complacency. Personally, I had been doing well. I'd added one more goal and two assists to my tally, bringing my total to two goals and four assists for the season. Not too shabby, but there was always room for improvement.

Today, though, was a bit different. We were preparing for our tenth game of the season, this time against Suwon. They were only two points behind us, so the stakes were high. I was in the film room, reviewing some footage of Suwon's previous matches, analyzing their defensive structure, and trying to spot any weaknesses we could exploit.

Suddenly, I heard a commotion outside. At first, I thought nothing of it, maybe just the usual pre-match buzz. But the noise didn't die down. Instead, it got louder, and I could hear people talking in hushed, worried tones. Curiosity got the better of me, so I stood up and made my way to the door, stepping out into the hallway.

The moment I stepped outside, I saw a group of players and staff members gathered by the training pitch. I jogged over, my heart picking up speed. Minji was there too, looking concerned, so I approached her to find out what was going on.

"What's all this about?" I asked, trying to keep my voice calm.

Minji turned to me, her expression troubled. "One of our starting midfielders just got injured during training," she explained, her eyes flickering with worry.

My stomach dropped. This was bad—really bad. Our next game was a crucial one, and losing a key player at this point was the last thing we needed. I looked over at the training pitch and saw the player in question being carried off by the medical staff. His face was twisted in pain, and I could tell from the way he was holding his leg that it wasn't a minor injury.

"How serious is it?" I asked, trying to gauge just how much this would impact us.

Minji shook her head. "Not sure yet. They're taking him to the medical room now."

I watched as they whisked him away, feeling a pit form in my stomach. Suwon wasn't an easy team to beat, and we were only just ahead of them in the standings. This was going to make things a lot harder.

As if on cue, the manager called us all into the locker room. I followed the others inside, my mind still racing with thoughts about how we would adjust for the upcoming match. The mood in the room was tense, everyone waiting to hear what changes the manager would make.

He wasted no time. "Alright, listen up," the manager said, his voice firm but calm. "With the injury to our midfielder, we're going to have to make some adjustments to the starting eleven for the next game."
