Alex had never believed in love, not the way other people did. To him, love was a weakness, something that had once torn his family apart and left scars so deep he’d spent his whole life trying to bury them. But as he stood there, gazing into Emme’s eyes, he realized just how wrong he’d been.

The journey that had brought him to this moment was one filled with obstacles—his own insecurities, his cold exterior, and the secrets he had kept hidden for so long. Yet, somehow, Emme had found a way through it all. She had seen past the powerful CEO, past the walls he had built, past the coldness he wore like armor, and into the heart of the man he truly was.

They stood in the garden of Alex’s family estate, the afternoon sun casting a golden glow over the flowers. It was a place he had never taken anyone before. A place where his mother, Jana, had spent countless hours after his father had left. It had been her sanctuary, a place of peace. And now, Alex wanted to share that peace with Emme.

Emme, dressed in a simple yet elegant gown, looked at him with a mixture of warmth and curiosity. “You’ve never brought me here before,” she said softly.

Alex smiled, though the gesture was still somewhat unfamiliar to him. “This place... it means a lot to me. My mother used to come here when she needed to think. After my father left, this is where she found her strength. And now, I want you to know it too.”

Emme’s gaze softened as she reached out to take his hand. “Thank you for sharing this with me, Alex. It means a lot.”

He squeezed her hand, his heart racing with emotions he had spent years trying to suppress. “You’ve changed me, Emme. You’ve done what I thought was impossible—you made me feel again. For so long, I believed that if I shut out love, I’d be safe. But you showed me that love isn’t a weakness. It’s a strength.”

Emme smiled up at him, her eyes shining with tears. “I’ve always known there was more to you than that cold, ruthless exterior you show the world. I knew there was a good man underneath all of that. And I’m so glad I didn’t give up on you.”

Alex took a deep breath, feeling the weight of everything he had been carrying for so long finally lift from his shoulders. “I’m sorry for pushing you away,” he said, his voice thick with emotion. “I was scared. I didn’t want to get hurt again. But I realize now that I was only hurting myself by shutting you out.”

Emme stepped closer, resting her hand on his chest. “I know you were scared, Alex. And I understand why. But love isn’t about not getting hurt. It’s about trusting someone enough to let them in, even if it means you might get hurt along the way.”

Alex nodded, his heart swelling with gratitude for this woman who had not only changed his life but had shown him what it truly meant to love. “I love you, Emme,” he said, his voice firm and steady. “I’ve never said those words to anyone before, but I mean them with everything I am. You’ve melted my heart, and I don’t want to spend another day without you.”

Tears spilled from Emme’s eyes as she smiled up at him, her own heart brimming with joy. “I love you too, Alex. And I’m not going anywhere. We’re in this together.”

With that, Alex pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly as the weight of the past finally began to fade. For the first time in years, he allowed himself to feel everything—love, hope, and the promise of a future filled with happiness.

Later that evening, they stood together on the terrace, watching the sun dip below the horizon. The warm breeze rustled the leaves of the garden below, and the air was filled with the scent of blooming flowers.

As they stood there, Alex’s mother, Jana, joined them, a proud smile on her face. “I always knew there was someone out there who could reach you, Alex,” she said softly, placing a hand on his arm. “I’m so glad you’ve found her.”

Alex turned to his mother, the woman who had sacrificed so much for him, and nodded. “I’m glad too, Mom. I’ve spent my whole life running from love, but now I see that it’s the one thing that makes life worth living.”

Jana smiled warmly at Emme, her eyes filled with gratitude. “Thank you, Emme. For everything. You’ve given my son something I could never give him—the courage to love.”

Emme smiled, her heart full. “He gave that to himself, Mrs. Blackwood. I just helped him see that he was capable of it.”

Jana chuckled softly. “Well, either way, I’m glad to call you my daughter-in-law.”

The mention of those words sent a wave of emotion through Emme, and she turned to Alex, her eyes widening in surprise. “Daughter-in-law?” she whispered, her heart racing.

Alex, feeling more confident than he ever had before, reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box. “I know it’s sudden,” he began, his voice soft but sure. “But I’ve spent too long hiding from love. I don’t want to wait any longer. Emme Carter, will you marry me?”

Emme’s breath caught in her throat as she stared at the ring. Her heart was pounding, and tears blurred her vision. She had never imagined this moment, but now that it was here, it felt so right.

“Yes,” she whispered, nodding as the tears spilled down her cheeks. “Yes, I’ll marry you, Alex.”

Alex slipped the ring onto her finger, his heart racing with joy as he pulled her into his arms. The two of them stood there, wrapped in each other’s embrace, knowing that they had overcome every obstacle that had tried to keep them apart.

They had both been tested by life—Alex by his past and Emme by her struggle to save her business. But through it all, their love had proven stronger than anything that had come their way. Together, they had melted the ice that had once encased Alex’s heart, and now, they stood ready to face the future hand in hand.

---

As the sun set on that beautiful day, Alex and Emme knew that their journey was just beginning. They had found love in the most unexpected of places, and now, they were ready to build a life together—a life filled with love, laughter, and the knowledge that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.

Love had triumphed, and in the end, that was all that mattered.
