LISA returned to work the following week. On returning to work, Lisa immediately typed out her resignation, requesting that she be relieved with immediate effect and went to give it to her boss Soohyun. She didn't want to work with Taehyung anymore and she didn't want to be near him.
Soohyun looked at her resignation with dismay and tried to find out her reasons for leaving. Lisa simply said that she had personal reasons for leaving and it had nothing to do with him or with the company. He then asked her if Taehyung or Gong yoo knew about this. She told him that she had discussed it with Gong yoo and he was aware of her decision.
She was grateful to Gong yoo and him, but she had to move on in life. Soohyun accepted her decision, with a promise that he would reply to the resignation, and come up with a date, so she could be relieved as soon as possible. In the meantime, she was to continue as earlier.
Lisa walked back to her office in slow motion, looking around her, at the place and the people she had worked with for so long. She didn't want to leave this place but she had no choice. Gong yoo had visited her and told her that Taehyung knew everything now. Though initially angry that he had gone against her and discussed the situation with Taehyung, she understood when he told her that Taehyung had to know and that he couldn't expect Taehyung to go on believing the worst about her, about his own relationship with her. But Taehyung knowing didn't change the way she felt about him at this point. He had hurt her real bad and it was not going to be easy to forget or forgive. She sat at her desk and switched on her laptop intending to clear the stack of emails that had piled up since her sickness.
Taehyung stood just inside the door of Lisa's office, quietly observing her work. She hadn't yet noticed him, so he took the time to look her over. She was looking thinner after the illness, but she had regained most of her color. He knew she was doing well as he had been in touch with Rosie and he had been subtly asking Jisoo as well about her. He also knew that over the weekend, Jisoo had taken Lisa and Rosie along with her, to help shop for her wedding outfits. If Lisa could manage that, then she was definitely back to normal.
He knocked on her door and saw her eyes move from her laptop's screen to his face, recognize him and grow wide in shock. A range of emotions passed across her face, from shock to anger to hatred and then to resignation. In the next instant she blinked and her face showed none of the emotions that he had just witnessed. She had put a shutter on her feelings.
He entered her office and shut the door. He waved her resignation in one hand and asked her, "What's this Lisa?"
"Don't pretend that you don't know what it is," she told him coldly.
"Why?"
"You were the one who didn't want me anywhere near his family and since that's next to impossible working in the same office, it's best that I leave right away," she said, hurtling his ill spoken threat back on his face.
He ran a hand through his hair very disturbed now. She was right, he had told her that and much worse. But how did he even start to apologize to her.
"Look Lisa, about that last time..."
But she cut him off. "I don't want to talk about it Taehyung."
"But, let me explain."
"No, you believed you had reasons then for behaving the way you did and apparently you now know the truth. But how does that help me? So don't waste your time trying to apologize or trying to take back your words, because you can't. You hurt me really bad that night and you can't change that. Nothing you say or do will ever change that. I've made up my mind that I am not going to work with you in future and I won't change it."
